Re: Very dry skin
Met a young lass yesterday with her boxer. She was saying that he is having awful problems with dry skin all over but particularly on his nose. His nose was very dry and peeling. I couldnt think of anything, but thought you folks might know of something she could use for him.

I would double check that it was dry skin on his nose? My last girl had real problems cleaning her dinner off her nose and always had scabby stuff stuck on top of it!!

Vaseline would be good, as long as you could stop him licking it off??!!

I'll second that Vasaline on the nose. Boxers can get a condition on ther noses when too dry. It (the nose) goes all like a caulaflour. Once it's like that there is no going back! Tell her to give her dog a capsual of evening primrose oil and when giving a bath use mild shampoo rinced off with a solution of warm water and a drop of tee tree oil in a 1ltr container.

A great shampoo is "Epi-soothe" it is oatmeal based - you get it from the vet. You lather them up and leave it on for 10-15 mins. Just dont get in the way when they "shake" It really is good though. I bath Rosie in it at least once a week now that it is summer as she too has dry skin. It is also very itchy at this time of year.

Great fan of Eve Primrose Oil and if they can afford it - capsule of Royal Jelly as well. I think once they get the all over well being under control the nose will soon catch up. Sounds like he may be scratching his nose cos its itchy [dry skin would cause that] or rubbing it along the ground.

Skin problems in boxers do occur and seem to be hard to keep under control.

Dogs Stuff [Kleen Face] do a lovely balm - Mink balm which helps to calm Rosie's feet down. It is oil based and perhaps they could try it on his nose?

Re: Very dry skin
We use tea tree mist, medicated shampoo & conditioning tablets to keep our lot looking "clean"
