Boxers & Babies
Hi all

Not been on for while as I lost my log in details but mainly been busy with my new granddaughter Paige who is now 10months. I remember before she was born asking for some advice to help make things easier when introducing her to My two four legged babies, molly and sasha, very sound advice it was too. However 10months in and they are still in their beds behind a baby gate on all visits. They are out on occasion but all they want to do is get at her for slobbers and licks and as they are very powerful this gets stopped very quickly. Paige approaches them crawling towards gate which makes them excited and then the paws come through. Any help would really be appreciated I can't believe I am never going to be able to have them in the same room together.:help:

I find Gixer likkes to "wash" every baby he sees. When the family visit he is kept with them I found it worse if I separated them and he gets a very stern telling off of overexcited. Most of the time he is very gentle it's just the licking. Must be harder with 2 but I think it is just Boxers as I've not seen other dogs like it.

Re: Boxers & Babies
Try them in one at a time with the baby on your lap so that you can control the situation, never leave them alone together. Have foodie treats handy so if they get too excited you can tempt them back to order with the treat. Once the first has calmed down, bring in the second dog and do the same. They will soon associate the treats with the baby and being good. As the baby gets older you can teach her to give the dogs treats - all bonding processes. Just take it very slowly and cautiously.
