wetting in the house
hi

as you may see from last post i have just recently got an 8mth old female boxer, we got her from a lady in hull who was giving her up for work reasons. We've had her about 1 and 1/2 weeks and she has wet in the house a few times, once on our bed(v.annoying). We walk the dogs at 5.30am then again at 8pm and again at 11.30pm but she has still wet in the house during night. She seems to be allright through the day when she is left for 3 and a half hours. I was thinking getting up at 2.30am to let her out during the night at a last resort. I know it may be the change in surrondings. Does anyone have any advice, thanks:spit:

Have you ever used a crate before? They are wonderful when it comes to potty problems in the night. She is old enough to be able to hold it through the night so that wouldn't be the problem. I am a big believer in crate training. I have found it has made my life and my doggies lives much cleaner, happier and safer. Let me know if you would like to hear more about crate training.

What time do you feed her? You could always try feeding her a bit earlier and not letting her have a drink too late at night.

Re: wetting in the house
To me it just sounds like she is taking her time in settling down. You say her last owner gave her up for work reasons - does this mean Rojo was left for long periods of time? If so, it may be that she is just doing it for attention and to keep you getting up and down keeping her company? If she has company during the day, she may worry that she is being "left alone" during the night while you are sleeping.

Is there any way you could get up to her at regular intervals during the night, and then just gradually extending these as her confidence grows? Just a thought?

Good luck

Re: wetting in the house
i used to have problems with my pup... i put her in the crate when i go to work and when i go to bed... if she has been good, she gets out for a couple nights. but i lock her in the room with me... still working on the chewing... she hasnt gone potty in the house since we started it.. and when you put them in the crate, dont give them the idea that it is something that they did bad to be in there. dont put them in it if you punish them. that will make it harder on you...
