Hubby away
I don't want to cramp up Carol's very exciting news thread so I thought I would answer your questions in here!

Hubby is off to the Gulf - he stays in Qatar most of the time, but has been known to head off into Iraq if some jets land out and need fixing. He says that wont happen this time though - as he is one of the few experienced on a piece of equipment at that they will need him on base all the time (fingers crossed)!!

He goes early hours next Friday morning and wont be back until the beginning of August - so it will be just over 10 weeks.

Not looking forward to it as usual - health is poor just now and I am worried how I will cope. My kids are absolute stars and I know they will do their best, but there is only so much you can put upon them. Look on the bright side, it should be a lot warmer, so that will help me feel better :zen:

Natalie is gutted because he will be away for her birthday and he also misses our 10th wedding anniversary.

Re: Hubby away
We just passed our 17 year anniversary. He worked abroad a lot, that is why I got a dog in the first place. One time, 6 weeks in the Nigerian jungle with no word. Also Iraq, Iran, Angola, Cameroon, Qatar, Jalpur, Pakistan, Siria, Gabon, Egypt. All the shit holes of the world that have oil. It was a constant worry. Now he has a desk in Aberdeen, the young guys go to the oil fields, I am happier, but I really can emphasize with their girls. What I hated most was the way they would go into these jobs with not a care in the world, WHAT OF THOSE YOU LEAVE BEHIND???? The big adventure only works for one!

He leaves 2am tomorrow morning, so we just had our last morning together and now we will have our last breakfast - lunch - etc etc.

It's Christophers 16th birthday today, so that is keeping me occupied:worried:

He's gone :worried: He got away 2am this morning to go down south and heads out to the gulf this evening.

I realised the other day that he is away for Father's Day too so had to get all his cards sorted out for that so he could take them with him.

Feeling very sorry for myself today and I can't even binge on chocolate and cake to make myself feel better as I am on a strict dietician's diet just now :worried:

Oh well, c'est la vie eh :ohwell:

Chin up old girl, he'll be back soon.
Happy birthday Christopher. The old man was 44 on wednesday, almost time to trade him in for a GTi.
We were up to Elgin on Wednesday, beautiful weather there, had a walk about town centre(Daz always gets a lot of attention in Elgin), then went down to Granton-on-Spey, which was swealtering, even at 3.30pm. Then after picnic, back to Aberdeen over the Lecht mountain way. The scenery was breathtaking. Note for skiers, "unlucky", no snow at all.

Well have had a few bad days, the two week dip happened end of last week. Am feeling a little brighter this weekend though. Poor Rob, the heat is astronomical out there and the air con isn't working properly, so he hasn't been getting much sleep!

I have only taken Sasha around Elgin once - that was enough!! Maybe one day I will try again - they just get so much fuss!!

Love the Lecht route - like you say, scenery is breathtaking!!

Totally sympathise, when George was working away from home, Ad Hoc, didn't know where or when he would be here or away. But, that was why I got me a dog, to keep me company. Welcome Daz, and welcome the family that is "thewhitestuff"

Re: Hubby away
Well, all going well, Rob should be home by this time next week!! :jump: :jump: :jump: :jump:

Apparently they should be arriving around midnight on Wed but I will assume sometime on Thurs because they are always late

As long as the aircraft stays serviceable and the magnetic forces don't pull it into Brize Norton as they fly over, then we should be ok. Otherwise they will have a 12 hour bus journey from Oxford to get home

The Tristars are based at Brize and they hate having to fly up here - they see it as a waste of time :vangry: So invariably, they "develop a problem" and have to land at Brize and then, funnily enough, never get back off the ground again!!

It just depends Helen, nothing regular apart from the Gulf for two months each year. (Shouldn't complain, some have to go for six!!)

He is away in Sept for two weeks and October for three as he has to go on training courses down south (promotion courses).

Don't think he is away until next year then. :cheering:
