Absence
HI all just doing a quick catch up as I've not been on line lately. Had loads of stuff going on the worst one being my dad. He's 75 tomorrow and my mum and I have been really worried about him since Christmas. They came back from a cruise (their 1st one) to call the doctor as he couldn't eat, dress himself etc to be told he'd had a mini stroke. Over a week he got really bad and when I went to visit as they live about 80 miles away he had 4 falls in 1 day and was not talking, sleeping all the time etc. I did the hardest thing I'd ever done and phoned the doctor on the morning when he had fallen and I heard my mum trying to get him back to bed(she is nearly 76!) the doctor told me to ring 999 and get him admitted. After loads of tests they have diagnosed him as havingl ung cancer that has spread to the brain and the swelling was causing stroke like symptoms :crying: He is home at the mo waiting for biopsy results and I am going back and forth from Margate to Eastbourne. During all this Gixer has been SUPER!!!! He was with me and the OH and he knew dad was ill and kept barking at us trying to tell us and he actually looked relieved when he went off with the paramedics I was even able to leave him in my parents house when we went to the hospital and he chewed NOTHING!! Also saw a lovely delivery man who had 2 red and a white Boxer - don't know if he is on here!?! Anyway I'm waffling now just thought I'd get it off my chest it's quite good to type it rather than tell people although ny friends are all being strong - (I'm usually the strong one!) Bye for now and I will catch up when I can :worried:

Oh no what an awful time for you :worried: So, so sorry to hear about your Dad, it is very worrying when they are ill isn't it. My Dad is only 67 but when he was ill this year, I was extremely worried about him.

How is your Mum coping, it must be really hard for her - well hard for them both just waiting for those results.

I feel for you all, I really do :console:

Please keep us up to date with how things are going and make sure you look after yourself :flowerkiss:

Well done Gixer for being such a good boy too :blowkisses:

Re: Absence
Thanks, hopefully we will know more on Thursday as they nhave to go to the hospital. I will keep you all informed. Mum is bearing up , she has her fight back, it's such a shame as they are both very strong people and very "young" but this has taken its toll on them both I'm afraid. Fingers crossed for Thirsday :luck:

Re: Absence
:bighug:hugs to you. What a difficult time it must be. Well done Gixer for being such a good boy, bless him he must know something is wrong. I know how difficult it is to see your parents suffer, I lost my mum last April at just 51.

You and your family are in my thoughts.

Re: Absence
Hi all - unfortunately the results on Thursday were not good. The Cancer is terminal, there is nothing they can do but try to give him a better quality of life. We have been told that he will probably only have months left to live. I am spending my weekends travelling down to them and treasuring each moment I have. It's funny how the small things become really important. On his birthday I played my accordion for him and he really enjoyed it - although it wasn't my best as I haven't played it for years!! Anyway I'll keep checkng in when I can.

Re: Absence
Just to second what Karen said really. I'm so glad you are able to take something positive from this, and you are making the most of the time you have with him. Stay strong for your Mum and Dad but look after yourself too, like I said I've been through it and thought I'd never get over it, thankfully over the last couple of months I've learned to accept it and am starting to move on. Fell free to PM me if youu need a chat:bighug:
