Liz - Hesky might be better with a female companion. His "bitch" and all that. I had one that loathed other dogs yet he lived with two bitches and worshipped the ground they stood on!

Re: Sad stuff!!

Uh oh! Sounds like poor Chaos has some anxiety problems, not surprising though considering the changes he has had to go through.

It took Sasha at least a week to settle down in the nights when she first moved in with us and at least 6 months before she became "our" dog. I can honestly say that as much as I loved her, I didn't "know" her for a long time really - it's hard to understand how they are feeling when you dont know what they have been through. I suppose it's like adopting a child, only you dont get its true history.

I hope Chaos settles down soon and learns to trust his new family.

:bolt:
hello everyone this is amanda, chaos's new mum. Thought i'd let you all know that the teething problems seem to be ironing themselves out and chaos has finally realised that he is here to stay!!!!!!!
he has come on leaps and bounds and no longer makes me look like julie andrews in the sound of music when he is on the lead (he goes in a line now not round in circles!!!!) .
he has learned to have fun and realise that it is OK to play.
he is also sleeping at night time so i've got my sanity back.
i will keep everyone updated on how he's getting on and hope to include photo's when i get the hang of things.
Amanda

Welcome Amanda! So glad to hear that things are settling down with Chaos, you obviously have a good understanding of how a boxer works!!

I am sure it wont be too long now before he is completely at home and you will wonder how you ever managed without him.

Re: Sad stuff!!

Hi Amanda and Chaos + everyone else as I have been a bit quiet of late, sorry new Job and all that.

Glad to hear Chaos is settling in nicely, it could have been worse Amanda it took Tash our all white very deaf adorable boxer 14 months to stop using the floor as a toilet and she had Molly our Brindle as company. As the old saying goes if at first you do not succeed try, try and try again - if all else fails face facts you are owned by a boxer and you must try harder!

I'm sure Chaos will be fine once he is 100% sure he is staying which won't be long and then he will be using all available pieces of comfortable furniture as his bed, then you'll know he has settled in for good.

Does Chaos do an impression of a lap dog? I know most of us on here have the same problem on here - our rather large boxers like to have a cuddle on our lap, do they care that we do not find it very comfortable - nope not one bit.

Good luck, Paul

For all their flaws they really are worth the effort!!!

:jump:
HELLO TO EVERYONE. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHATS HAPPENED TO CHAOS'S ENERGY?????
I KNOW I SHOULDN'T COMPLAIN BUT HE DOESN'T HALF SLEEP AND TRY AS WE MITE TO PLAY AND WIND HIM UP HE LOOKS AT US AS IF WERE INSANE!! HE DOES HAVE A MAD 5 MINS EVERY NOW AND AGAIN BUT THEN COLLAPSES.

PAUL, CHAOS APPEARS TO HAVE A BIT OF A FOOT FETISH - HE SITS AND LIES ON THEM WHENEVER HE GETS THE CHANCE.

I INTRODUCED HIM TO SOME OF MY FAMILY TODAY AND THEY LOVED HIM, TAIL AND ALL. THEY WANTED TO KEEP HIM SO I'LL HAVE NO SHORTAGE OF SURROGATE MUMS IF THE NEED ARISES.

SORRY LIZ BUT LOOKS LIKE YOU MITE HAVE COMPETITION!!!!!!!!!

Re: Sad stuff!!

Let sleeping dogs lie I say - especially when its a boxer, you never know when you will need your energy to cope with their madness!!

How old is Chaos Amanda? Could it just be that he is getting all the exercise and attention he needs now and that, as he is quite young, he is relaxed enough to sleep between bouts now?

I know Sasha seemed on edge for the first couple of weeks and then she went through a stage when she slept a lot more? Now I can rarely get the lazy moo out of her bed during the day - she just lies in wait for the kids to come home and goes nuts with them!

Re: Sad stuff!!

Amanda - some of them have mad bursts of furious energy and then flop. Above all Boxers can be and love to be "couch potatos". Ours go mad for a short while and then flop. Sounds as if he is truely begining to settle in and knows he has a forever home. Well done!

Re: Sad stuff!!

So its competition then eh???? Glad they all love him. I think you forget that you only see Heskey when hes just full of the joys that youve all come to visist him......hes akip on the settee snoring at the minute which is where he spends the majority of his time! Make the most of it cos the minute you want to have 5 minutes kip that will be the time Chaos wants to play!
