This is so sad

I got a dog in the other day. Her photo is in the art gallery Kia.
I was going through her stuff and found this letter, been in tears for ages. The girls eyes were all swollen through crying and her hubby didnt come in with her. She did tell me that if we didnt take her, he was going to have her put down! heres the letter. I'm not going to correct it.
Kai,
It isn't your fault we has to give you away, back in July whenI first saw you I just had to have you. You went on walks with me because I couldnt go out on my own because I was afraid and you always walked by my side, if there was a crowd I felt safe. You went on holidays with us and out in the car. But when we left you to go shopping you were destroying the house. When we had an argument about you, I stood up for you blaming myself.
You are a brilliant dog and great with the kids and baby and the pugs.
I am very sad to see you go and you will always be thought about.
Remember it isnt your fault it's me who just didnt know anything about boxers (but you learned me)
Thanks for being my friend and always remember IT ISNT YOUR FAULT.

Aww bless - nice letter and she obviously loved Kai to bits, how unfortunate they did not have the patience, time or skills to train her properly!

How sad. Sounds like this woman has enough problems just getting from day to day let alone training and learning how to look after a boxer. Wonder who goes out with her now if she is so afraid? It's a shame her husband didnt have a bit more time and patience to help train Kia not to destroy the house - perhaps then they could have kept her?

Interesting insight into one of these abandoned babies though Jacquie. Hope you have managed to dry your tears now?

Re: This is so sad

Hi everyone
Yes I'm feeling a bit better today. The letter was a bit of a shock though.
Kai was bought in June by the lady that wrote the letter. She had gont to a cat and dog home looking for a boxer, she was aproached by someone there who said they knew of one being sold. She went to see Kai, and was told "you can always breed her and get a pup if thats what you want". She decided to take Kai.
Kai has had 2 homes that we know about. She is about 3 (we think)
The thing is (and it always get's me) she is so loving! her eyes are like big pools, they look at you saying, are you going to love me? I'm a big softy eh?

Re: This is so sad

Surely the rescue place that she went to aren't allowed to pass dogs on, claiming they can be bred from? I thought their ethos was "rescue" rather than irresponsible breeding?!!

I am shocked that she was sold Kai on that understanding - is there anyway to find who recommended Kai to this woman? They need to be sacked first then hung second!

Think Jacqui meant tht someone in the rescue knew this person with a boxer wanting "rid" and told Kai's ex owner - probably someone who had approached the rescue saying they wanted rid. You would be surprised how many unscrupulous people who are out there, I know of one little lady whose breeder refused to take her back and told the owner the same thing only they didnt put it so nicely.

Thats right Helen, It was somone that worked there that new someone with a boxer to sell.
It was the seller who suggested breeding from her.

Humble apologies - must have misread that one! Thank goodness for that - am used to breeders being unscrupulous but I thought life was really over if the rescue centres were joining in!

Can heave a sigh of relief now then!

Re: This is so sad

I dont know which is sadder, the letter, or people taking dogs on when they dont know what they are doing. As always its the dogs that suffer.

Great news to hear that she has now found her forever home
