Re: Sasha's return to the vet

Thats really sad news, but Sashas a boxer so your right shes bound to be a fighter. Sometimes i think its important to accept whats happening and then forget it so you can get on with enjoying your time together (which im sure will be a long long time). Thinking of you

Re: Sasha's return to the vet

I did have an appointment to see the consultant,, with an open mind on Tuesday. I have cancelled it though. One of Lorraine's vets had a boxer in her practise that had had the same jaw surgery. She did not recommend Sasha have it done. The poor boxer she knew only lasted four months after having it done! and they were not a good four months either. I'll stick with quality of life.

Thanks for phoneing Karen easpecially when you were so buisy yourself.

Re: Sasha's return to the vet

I still believe you are doing the right thing Jacquie.

To put a dog through such a major op and then for it not to get any better - whats the point.

If she is not in pain at the moment and can enjoy the love and attention from you and your family - then why change that!

I know it's a hard decision to make but i personally think you have made the right one.

Re: Sasha's return to the vet

Hopefully you will feel a lot better now you have actually made the decision Jacquie, that is often the hardest thing to do!

For what it's worth, I agree and think you have made the right one for Sasha in this case. Her quality of life is the most important thing as well as her happiness and state of mind. I think the surgery would have depressed her further and made it a lot more difficult for her to recover.

Comfort, love, hugs and cuddles go a long way and I am sure Sasha will be the happiest white girl around for a while yet.

Take care, will keep in touch

I have to pick stuff up today to paint on it and wash it off twice a day, pluse she's got more antibiotics and an anti hystemene. Poor baby1 She goes back on friday. The whole is getting samaller, just taking a while.

Hi, there just going to make sure the whole is closing up ok and it's not infected. There is an improvement and she's more or less back to being herself again. It's been quite a long haul for her. Providing everything is ok were going to take her on one of her favourite walks at the weekend!

Re: Sasha's return to the vet

Just been to the vet. She's really pleased with Sasha's leg, its healing nicely now.

The bad news. As you all know I'm not getting her jaw removed and reconstructed. Well, I have to watch for her haveing problems eating, her jaw can spontainiously break or fractor. If she's in pain, haveing trouble eating or her jaw is hanging I have to take her at once to the vet. Then it will "be the time". She could have months left but I have been told it wont be years.
I know of one girl that will be spoilt rotten till that time comes!

She deserves to be spoon fed doggie chocolate and ice cream!!

Poor wee girl, glad to hear her leg has healed up nicely though.

Here's hoping she is happy and well for a good few months yet.

Re: Sasha's return to the vet

Sorry to hear your bad news Jacquie.

Like Karen said she deserves to be totally spoilt!!!!

Good news however that her leg is healing well so she will be able to enjoy her time with you.

I am sure you will make her the happiest, most loved boxer there is in that time.

She couldn't ask for a more caring mum.

I think you should add a nice big juicy bone to her doggie chocolate and ice cream!!!!!

Will you lot stop it! You had me in tears earlier, I couldn't answer this then.
There isn't one of you that wouldn't do the same as me under the same circumstances:smile:
