Can you believe it two settees in two days! Not chewing just digging - have had to hide all of his soft rubber balls that he loves so much. I think last night it was close to coshing him on the head with something heavy. the best bit is he greets you at the front door, cowers and then goes and puts himself out!
Went to the vets last night as he has a re-occuring cyst between his toes. Hes off for an op next Friday to have it removed. Discussed that fact that we had lost one of the afformentioned rubber balls about 3 weeks ago, yet half of it had reappeared yesterday morning on my carpet with abit of grass etc. Vet not concerned about the remainder as says that he looks healthy, everything that goes in comes out the far end etc. Im beginning to wonder if you saw me coming Jacquie! Maybe he can have some of Sasha's happy pills??
Have you tried Bach's flower remedies - apparently you can fit them to each condition. (I am learning there are some for sarcasm - I would end up mute!!) I have heard people have great success with them, but I have to admit that I haven't got round to trying them on Sasha yet. Failing that - a cage??!! He certainly seems to have some energy doesnt he! Sasha doesn't destroy very often, but I have learnt that when I am out - she stays in the hallway where there is nothing for her to get hold of. Past experiences include the loss of candles, wooden ornaments, christmas stockings and apples!! Maybe he needs a wee friend to distract him while you are out??????????? ![]()

Hi there..
I too have used Bach's "Rescue Remedy" on both myself and my Lucy. We go camping a lot and when we get ready to leave, Lucy panics and starts pacing & panting. I just put a few drops of rescue remedy in her water in the morning and I have to say it makes quite a bit of difference. Good Luck! Michelle |

Hi Liz
Is it just whilst you are out that he is so naughty or does he do it whilst you are in the house. When Tia and Kirei were younger we had trouble with Sofas whilst we were out at work. I would come home and the foam cushions would be torn to bits and the floor covered with foam and anything else that they could get hold of torn up all over the place. Our remedy was to build them an outside run in the garden with a big cosy kennel and they would spend the time that we were out in their run. We felt a bit mean at first leaving them outside - some days it would be for the entire day but others it would be for a couple of hours as it depended what shift Brendan was on. We gave them plenty of toys to keep them occupied and they actually used to enjoy it. At times when we were all sitting in the garden they would go and lay in their run of their own accord. Since we have moved our garden is not big enough for them to have their own run so they stay indoors now but we have built a high wooden gate to keep them out of the living room whilst we are at work. We have found that limiting the areas they can use whilst we are out is the best way to prevent coming home to a disaster. We have had a few holes in the wall from Henry since we have been here, but the dogs seem to have learnt that some areas are only for when we are home. How about trying a cage like Karen says - I am not a particuarly big fan of them but i do know of people that it has worked for. How old is Heskey? If he still younger than about two years then he should grow out of it. Good luck

The vet recons he should grow out of it too. Unfortunately he had re-eaten the settee again on Friday so i dread going home today. Strangely enough he doesnt mind us going out to the pub! I will try the bachs rescue remedy as i have some of that although i think i need it more than him!

Liz, I put a thread in problems about Sasha going on happy pills.
We are three days in and they do seem to have taken away a bit of her anxiety during the school runs etc. Like Heskey she would have her times when she got stressed about us going out - and others when she wouldnt. For example the morning really stressed her out, but when I went to get Natalie she didnt bat an eyelid. A friend of my said that she saw a poster up at our vets for a medicine specifically designed for seperation anxiety and that it was a herbal remedy (it began with K??) Sasha is on Clomnicalm just now - its fairly expensive £20 for 15 days worth.

Going to have to try something otherwise we will be spending christmas sitting on the floor! It just seems to be the going to work thing that does it for him and thank god i will be back working shifts as from January. He is quite happy to be left when we go to the pub yet the routine is the same! Who knows what goes on in a boxers head (how scary would it be if we did know!) Am working from home today so atleast i know the furnitures safe today!!!! Will speak to the vet on Friday when i drop him off for his op.

Liz - the crate really worked for Rosie and works for my brother's staffie cross. He completely ruined their last suite. Brave souls got a new one couple months ago but so far he has left it alone. They are starting now to give him more freedom out of the crate. He is 17 months old now. Boxers do calm down, by the time he is coming towards 3 years old he will be a changed boy. They are such people orientated, just cant bear to be seperated from their family. Pubvisit is a different routine and maybe you are not out for so long at a time? Hope all goes well at the vets.

Im more likely to put Mike in the cage as hes more often a pain in the butt than Heskey! Day one and its looking good. Furniture in tact and Heskey didnt seem that perturbed. Couldnt get him out of the cage yesterday, so i can only presume that the breeder he lived with for most of his life used cages. The only problem is small house, BIG cage! Ive lived in smaller rooms than that! Back for a check up tonight on his foot (and oh god hasnt he milked the sympathy vote!) Great bandaging job they did, it fell off on Saturday with absolutely no help from Heskey. They also said light exercise-try telling him it means no running about at 100mph!! Oh well lets see how the rest of the week goes......

Liz,
I'm confused (not like me I know) but how did you find out he had lived with a breeder most of his life? Was it through his chip? The girl I got him from only said where (as in town) he had come from and I was lead to believve he was with a family prior to her buying him.
