anyone got a pure white boxer - no markings anywhere?

Hi
Just a general question - has anyone got a pure white Boxer with absolutely no coloured markings anywhere?

If so -
Is it a dog/bitch?
Is it deaf/or got impaired hearing?
Has it impaired eyesight?
? any skin problems
Do you need to use sun block on pink areas in hotter months?
Is temperment sound?
Is the dog/bitch neutered?

Thanks for your help - doing a bit of research on white dogs.

Ralph.

Re: anyone got a pure white boxer - no markings anywhere?

I am all for research on white boxers! I have been doing it for years!!

My Eddie has NO markings at all, he is pure white in his coat.
Eddie is a male as you probably already figured out!!
NO he is NOT deaf.
NO he is NOT blind (just a little note, white boxers are not known for being blind because they are white. The deafness issue has to do with pigment in the ear, or rather lack of pigment. This has nothing to do with blindness)
No skin problems.
No I do not use sumblock.
His temperment is GREAT!
He is neutered now, but he was not neutered until he was 6 years old. He is 8 now.

If this helps any....Eddie's parents are both pure white, NOT deaf, NOT blind, no skin problems, not fixed and they are both still going strong at 11 and almost 13 years old.

Hope I helped!!

I have a pure white too. Not deaf, blind (stupid?!!) No skin problems - do sometimes use sun cream in the hotter months. Super temperament, male, neutered at six months.

Parents both brindle and in good health.

Hi

Tash my 3 year old boxer is 99% all white other than two marks on her right shoulder the size of a 5pence piece. Her temprament is superb especially around children - she never jumps up and is always happy to see children or adults and other dogs.

During the summer we do use sun block on Tash's more sensitive areas ie; the backs of her rear legs, ears and nose. We also make sure she has a shaded area during the summer as one year whilst out walking she/we over did it and she got sun stroke.

Her eyesight is superb and sense of smell also superb, the reason we believe is to compensate for the fact that she is completely deaf. The only things she picks up on is resonnance from car exhausts or low bass.

Tash is a bitch and is neutered.

Hope this helps and glad to see somebody actually trying to find more out about white breeds. Where can we see the results of your research and when will it be available??

Kind regards, Paul

Out of curiousity, how many of those of you who say your white Boxers are not deaf have had them BAER tested?

Re: anyone got a pure white boxer - no markings anywhere?

i think we would know if our whites were deaf, my Rocky is one of four whites in a litter of 8, the vet gave them all a clean bill of health 3 times, we did not pick up on the deaf pup, but her new family did within a week of taking her home.
I was shocked that lily was deaf because the pups all had regular checkups before they left us, but when we found out she was in fact deaf we were tld that not all deaf pups are born deaf but it happens in the first few weeks of life,

This would be when most people do not pick up deafness in a pup but i believe almost anyone could tell if a pup of 4mths+ was deaf or not,

All the signs of Lily`s deafness was there to see at weeks old but i missed them completely, hope this helps yvonne

Daz is all white apart from a ginger spot on one of his hind legs, it's about two inch long and one inch wide.

As already said by a member, I agree, most of us would know if our boxers were deaf at this point. My Eddie is 8 years old.
For your question "of those of you who say your whites are not deaf have had them BAER tested?" Well how many people who own "colored" boxers, that don't have any concerns of deafness, how many of them have their boxers BAER tested??????

Trust me, Eddie can hear the tiny rattle of a cheese wrapper when he is in a deep sleep from the other end of the house!LOL

Sasha only has a brindle tail and a spot on her right ear. No way she is deaf, as she can hear her sweetie draw open when she is at the bottom of the garden - although she cant seem to hear me when I am telling her to go out for her last wee of the day????!!!!!

The breeder had ALL the pups in her litter tested when they were young and Sasha was only one of two whites out of 9 pups

We asked the breeder if our dog had any problems they charged us 150 more than than the briddle after the kids had meet and fell in love with her we visited her every week for 6wks we asked if there was any problems we were told she was fine we brought her home and I knocked the dyson on and she never moved we were asked to have it confirmed which we did by our vet. we told the breeders and they asked for her back to put her down our children were in love and so were we she is not all white but isdeaf a lovely dog and i feel that she is looked down on by vets and trainers becuase she is white our vet said she was a great dog what a shame she is white she would have made a great boxer, last time I looked she still was one!!

With all you have told of this unscrupulous breeder, I really think we need to know their name and location. They need to be named and shamed.

On our search for a white baby we came across people who were charging double for a white. We eventually found Poppy's breeder, we paid 300 for her and the brindle puppies were 600, she is off two champions and has really good bloodlines, unlike some of the other pups we enquired about.

Gixer is white except fpr a couple of small brown spots on his ears and back
He is Male!!
Not deaf
Not Blind
Gets eczema from wheat/gluten
Use sunblock on his ears and back legs as the fur is very thin and skin very pink
Temperament wonderful - if not a bit stupid - but he is a Boxer!
Neutered at 18mths due to a retained testicle

Re: anyone got a pure white boxer - no markings anywhere?

Hello
I have a white boxer, her fur is pure white but her skin looks like a dalmations when shes been in the bath. Her name is Bonnie and she is 3yrs old. I rescued her last year and she was soooo under weight! She is tone deaf and really healthy (now, anyway). She is well behaved but has her moments like any young boxer. She likes breaking into my cupboard to steal the fish food!!!

I dont let her off the lead because I cant call her back (because she is deaf). So I use a training lead for length when we go for walks. She is difficult to walk on the lead but thats just because she was not trained and looked after in her early years. She responds really well to hand signal and vibrations. Cooky and Bonnie white boxer! XX

seamus is all white except for a small brown mark on one ear.
he is totally deaf and im slightly worried about his sight too.
he has the most wonderful temprament(cant spell)apart from wanting anything anybody else has.
we got another hearing dog to keep him company as he has seperation anxiety and when we go out for walks we call molly back and seamus comes too,
we havent used sun block yet as weve only had him a week but will have to as he hasnt got much fur and is very pink.
