Food

Hi
I may have mentioned in previous posts that Katie has never liked dried food no matter the quality. Soaked, semi soaked or dry. It goes in the mouth and gets "piffed" out over the floor usually at Rosie's feet. Rosie wastes no time in scoffing it.

I got fed up with wasting money on the food, having a very skinny youngster and an ever expanding adult!! I decided to try a wet food and have never looked back. Katie puts her head into the dish and its clean in no time at all. Rosie likes anything edible but hers is gone in seconds and then she stands ever hopeful that Katie will leave a crumb.

Best of all Katie has put on weight - yeah!!!:jump:

Happy days are here at last..................Tra la la la la la la...
[sad what makes some folk happy isnt it:yummy:]

It makes me wonder though if the so-called fussy eaters are trying to tell us something that just maybe the complete dried foods are the be and end of it all that they are made out to be and perhaps they just do after all know best as to what is the best thing for them to eat.

Re: Food

Good to hear you have found something Katie likes! Sometimes a change is all they need - I think they get bored, just like humans!

We rotate Sasha's Burns so she gets a different flavour each time and we have some mixer stuff to add to her dinner if she is being fussy but, touch wood, she is ok just now - in fact she ate her breakfast at breakfast time for the first time since last summer! She is definitely back to normal.

Glad to hear Katie is putting on weight - I know how worrying it is when you have a boxer who is all ribs! What food do you have her on? I used a wet food with my last girl - Pascoe's or Wilson's I believe?

Re: Food

I give them Winalot tinned food. Naturediet was highly recommended so I bought a couple of trays at the weekend. On Sunday I added some to their last feed. Katie got the gripes and produced green stools [lovely subject] and Rosie took diarrhea plus a very upset tummy. She hasnt eaten anything at all today, her poor tummy is rumbling like mad. If she looks for food later on I will chop some chicken for her or lightly scramble an egg. I wont try the nature diet again!

Heskeys really ribby. He still has a big head and big feet and ribs you could play a tune on! The vet isnt worrried and no matter how much food you shovel in he just runs it all off again!

Re: Food

Ours also have winalot tinned food - but they also have dried food. They have one of the normal sized tins of winalot a day each and then we leave dried food down for them all the time which they can go back to as and when they want.

They really scoff down their tin of meat as if they really enjoy it - however i know the dried food is supposed to be so much better for them so that is why we only allow them one tin of food a day so they have to eat the dried food to complete their diet.

Like Karen said sometimes they just need a change - ours have quite often gone through that - although most of the time they will eat absolutely anything. Although it is obviously important to make sure it agrees with their insides - for them and for you!!!!!

At least she is now putting on weight. I have never actually seen an overweight boxer - i think they are just too energetic to get that way!!!
