My hubby said last night that he was glad we didn't have a bigger house or garden, as it would be filled with boxers!! Can't bear the thought of any one of them suffering in anyway, they are so loving and loyal, they just dont deserve to be treated badly!!

I was talking tonight about getting Blue's "bits" removed. My hubby said it was because it ment we wouldn't have any problems with any dogs that I "took" in and it ment I could help with bitches and not worry about them getting pupped.
Now Ladies would I do a thing like that?:loveya: ![]() |

Mmmmmmm as one of the few male members who regularly visits can I just say you all have a wicked sense of humour - I certainly would not want to get on the wrong side of any of you.
Poor blue he's probably very proud of his dangly bits, Lynne won't have a male boxer partly for that reason and also due to someting she calls their "lipstick" I have no idea what she is on about either!! Oh and because generally they are so much large and stronger than the females. Poor blue as a fellow male my thoughts are with you in your hour of need. Take care all, Paul (my legs are crossed) |

Gingerboy, Pleased to meet you.
I'll post a picture of Blue for you to see. He's graet (like all boxers) I'm sure he will be happier with out his bits. He';; be able to sit better whithout squashing them. ![]() |

With Blue being older he will be left with loose skin for a while, but it does gradually shrink, Polo wasn't too bad as he was about 9 months when he had his op so his bits weren't too big
![]() What a lovely subject ![]()

Take it from me - he wont miss anything. Always get the males as well as the females done. Hate leaving them in though. We have a youngster coming up soon that will have to be done but its worth it. No problems that way.
It is safer for the male dogs as well when they get older and risks of malignancy in that area. Good luck |

Hi Ickrivet
Pleased to meet you! Iv'e been putting off getting blue's bits removed as I had a bit of a horror experiance with the local vet. I found a good one over xmas when I had to take a rescue boxer in ( she was about the only one open) exept my local who I wont go near! The one I went to has boxers and was really good. She didn't even charge me as Buddy was in my foster care!"! I'll be going to her. The week before Xmas Blue was due for his booster. I took him up and the vet was new to the practise. She zoomed in on him and his reaction was to snap. Not a nasty one but a warning (not a side of him Iv'e seen exept at the vet or when kids were tormenting him) thats another story. Anyway she decided to muzzel him! I kept saying he couldn't breath (three times) anyway he passed out! Colapsed in a heap! She looked in his mouth and his gums were blue! He came round and my hubby took him out for air. She then told me in future to go to there other practise as they had no oxygen in that one! Brilliant eh? ![]() |

![]() As for getting the snip i got Homer done about 3 years ago now he sits so much nicer and must be a lot more comfy for him his temprament hasnt changed at all but he has put on a bit of weight I did it not for the cosmetic sense but i couldnt bare the thought of him ever getting cancer and as a precaution better be safe than sorry and DeeDee my bitch is a lot happier not being pounced on by a big huge weight ![]() ![]()

My last boxer, Katie, used to get a bit cross with the vet! She was the only person that she ever did it to and the vet found it highly amusing - knowing that boxers were soft as icecream!!
They came to this understanding - I used to tie a bit of crepe bandage around Katie's mouth (no muzzle). Karen, the vet, did her work and as soon as she finished I would take the bandage off. Katie would then rush over to Karen, sit at her feet and wait for a biscuit! It was so funny! I have never found a vet as good as her ![]() As for the vets statement to find another because they dont have oxygen - I think you should find another because they dont have a clue!! Karen ![]() |
