Junior Food?

Poppy will be 6 months old on the 28th of the month, we feed her James Wellbeloved puppy performance food. Am I right in thinking she should go onto the junior food at 6 months? Also how do I change it, if I stick to the same variety (turkey and rice kibble) do I still need to introduce it gradually?

The bag of puppy stuff is almost finished, I obviously don't want to buy a big sack of puppy when she is almost 6 months, Do you think if I buy a small bag of puppy and a sack of junior, then introduce the junior over a week that would be ok? I don't suppose switching now would do any harm since she's only 11 days short of 6 months.

Thanks in advance

Re: Junior Food?

Tizzy was on their junior performance by then. As long as it is the same food as such, they you don't need to introduce it.

You could easy buy a large bag of junior now and start her on it with some of the puppy if you want, but there isn't much need I don't think?

I seem to remember Polo being on puppy food until 12 months, this was Hill's science. Presumably each different type has their own 'rules'.

It should tell you on the bag itself.

It wont do any harm I shouldnt think. Harvey is on an adult food. First time it was the script diet from the vets and this one is Nutro sensitive for dogs with sensitive digestions. Its not holding him back. Not, that there is a choice.....

Re: Junior Food?

Thanks everyone. I just bought a big bag of the junior one. It does look quite a bit bigger than the puppy one though (the kibbles I mean), I hope she manages it ok. For dinner she'll get what was left of the puppy with some junior but then it'll be straight onto junior, it is the same kind so hopefully we dont get an upset tummy.

I did that with Gixer - he was on pedigree food at that age, as it was the same brand I went straight on to it and there were no problems. He is now on James Wellbeloved for his skin mainly we changed that over 3 days and he was fine.

I think Poppy likes it better too, she gets really excited at feeding time now.
