Re: Poor Sasha

Hi All

Took Molly to the vets today because I noticed some lumps on her gum, not very big but big enough to obscure her tooth. Vet said they were a "name" epelid or something like that, I can't remember now but they are allegedly quite common in boxers.

She said not to be too concerned at the moment as they were quite small and 99% when tested were benign. So it sounds like I am in the same boat as Jacquie so to speak, thankfully Molly has no problems at the back end other than the usual flatulance!

She also said to get straight back to her if the lumps got considerably bigger, began to bleed or Molly was chewing on them! Mollys fairly stupid but I can't imagine her chewing on them and if she was they would be massive. Anyway we are fortunately insured so I will leave it for now and see how she gets on - she has had some lumps removed last year which also were benign so fingers crossed these will be the same.

I will keep you all up to date as and when - spooky that Molly should have the same thing!

Re: Poor Sasha

Poor Molly, I hope they dont cause her too much discomfort bless her.

It is so scary when these lumps appear on our babies. Sasha has a lump on the inside of her ear that appeared over a week or so but then stopped growing. To my untrained eye it just looks like a wart and it certainly doesnt seem to be weeping or changing shape.

I am leaving it for now and will probably get it checked out next time she is in for a routine check up etc, unless anyone else has experience of this and thinks differently??

Lumps and bumps - who needs em!

Re: Poor Sasha

I wouldn't worry too much about it. They are sabashious cysts. Dont think that's spelt right but sound it out (lol)
They are basically pours that are clogged. Nothing to worry about! Just keep an eye on it.

Thats weird Paul, the one in the front of Sasha's mouth is really big. It's not stopping her from eating, or having fun so I'm going to leave it unless it causes her disscomfort.

Re: Poor Sasha

Hi everyone

Molly seems fine so just a matter of keeping a watchfull eye on her lumps.

Sasha's sound a lot bigger Jacquie but as you say unless they are causing her major problems / discomfort why put her through the trauma of general anesthetic and an op.

Will keep you up to speed.

By the way Molly was 5 yesterday - she had an extra special long walk and a net ball ball to destroy, she enjoyed it anyway just glad I'm not a net ball - punctured in 30 seconds and ripped apart with an hour!!

Jake had a similar problem with his bum (though there was nobody around to pee on him) It took a while to heal, but we got there eventually. Good luck and keep us up to date with her progress.

Re: Poor Sasha

I'm feeling quite down tonight. Over the last few days Sasha has got a bit grumpy. She started growling at Blue from time to time. Her breathing sounds laboured as well. She "snores" like there is somthing stuck in her throte only there isn't. Tonight she has been really bad, Lorraine could here it when we were talking on the phone. The big lump in the front of her mouth has got bigger, when I touched it she jumped and pulled back. So I recon she is in pain. I'm wondering if she has one of these lumps in her windpipe.
I have given her some calpol(sugar free ofcourse:wink:smile:
but I will have to get her a pm visit at the vet tomorrow. She was on antibiotics a week ago 1000mg a day for two wees so I dont think it will be an infection.
We all seem to be going through stuff with our babies just now!

Re: Poor Sasha

Poor wee girl, she certainly sounds as if she is in pain or some discomfort?

I know she has these lumps etc, but could her breathing be down to something like hayfever? The gorse has just started coming out and with the warmer weather recently, the pollen count goes up - this is the only time of year I get itchy because of the gorse and tree pollen. Only a thought?

My Sasha has been grumpy last couple of days too - I have had to tell her off a couple of times recently for growling and grumping at the kids which is so unlike her.

Let us know how she gets on please Jacquie

Re: Poor Sasha

Thanks so much guys. The calpol seems to be helping her.

I did think about the pollen but when I was brushing her she was breathing normally, then I lifted her chin up and she started to snore again. O'h well just have to wait to see what the vet has to say.
Will let you all know when I get home.

Re: Poor Sasha

Just back from the vet. She is going to remove the "tumor" as she calls it on Tuesday. She said if at is an agressive cancer then we would then be sent to the animal hospital. They would do an x ray to see if it was down into the bone. One thing at a time though it may not be, while she has her under the anistetic she is going to have a look in her windpipe ect to see if there is anything there. At least she isn't leaving anything to chance!
Next week seems to be the one for all of us going to the vets eh.
I hope all your babies are well. Will keep you posted.

Re: Poor Sasha

Just to add, I phoned the Vet this morning after talking to Lorraine about it last night. We have decided to get the Vet to do the X Ray while she in under anistetic on Tuesday, rather than doing it at a latter time. That way she will be saved going under again and the Vets will have a better idea what they are dealing with.
I think Tuesday is going to be a very long day!

Hope everything goes well for sasha on Tuesday.

It certainly makes more sense to have it done under the same anaesthetic.

Poor baby - I hope she is not suffering to much in the meantime.

How do you manage to still do all the good work for the boxer rescue whilst worrying so much about your own baby.

You must be a very strong lady!!

Sasha is lucky to have such a kind loving mum.

All the best

Re: Poor Sasha

The thing is, when someone phones us, normally they are at there wits end :shocked:and crying. They have tryed every avenue possible. (I'm talking about genuine boxer lovers) On the other hand we have people that just dont care. You have to rise (so to speak) to the challange and take over for the dogs sake. Afterall it doesn't have a voice!
Yip I'm worried sick for Sasha's sake, but I guess if I'm doing something for another dog it takes my mind off Sasha for a while. Afterall I know she's safe and loved. The thing is though I know for a fact I wont sleep well on Monday night. Probably be downstairs at silly o'clock smokeing myselfe to death!!!!!!!
