Water repellent

Hi
Well I got Miss Rosie bathed this afternoon!

Whilst bathing Rosie I had a good look at the coat. It appeared to be water repellent. Water runs off it, had to rub it in and then lather the shampoo in and even then it was resisting what I was doing. So she needed lathered twice. She was naughty too which is not like her, kept wandering off and shaking water everywhere! Because she had been lathered twice had to keep rinsing her to make sure all the shampoo was out.

I never actually looked at the coat before just got on with it so found it interesting that the coat is so water repellent! She kept wandering off when being dried as well. Then Katie kept whining to get out to her [in the kitchen] and when she did get out thought I was hurting Rosie and kept getting in-between us. In the end I had to tell her to go out of the room which made her highly offended for all of about 5 mins and then she was back!!

Does anyone else ever notice their Boxers coat being water repellent? I must admit until I actually took notice of what I was doing, I never did but found it very interesting as no doubt this is why it also takes so long to dry despite using the blow dryer.

Helen

Re: Water repellent

Tash's isn't - she has fine hair which is very dry and fluffy for a boxer whereas Molly has coarse hair which is quite oily and repels most attempts by water / rain to fully penetrate it.

That said both need a good dry when they get home after a wet winter walk. Molly takes about 5 mins to thoroughly dry and Tash takes 10.

Hope you are all well Helen, sorry I have not been on lately I am being kept very busy with the kids and new job.

Take care all

Paul

Re: Water repellent

Sasha is only water repellant if it comes cold out of a hose - she just seems to disappear completely!!

She seems to dry quite quickly so I am assuming she isn't that repellant. As for drying her with a hairdryer - I am impressed Helen - Sasha goes nuts whenever I am drying my daughters' hair, let alone her!!
