Loving home wanted

Hi

Is anyone interested in giving a loving home to an 18 month old white male boxer? Or do you know anyone who may be interested?

A guy who i work with asked me today if i wanted another boxer as his son needs to find a home for one. I would really love to take him in myself but with three already i knew it would be a definate NO from my hubby. (I still tried though!!!!! and it was still NO!!!!!!)

I don't know a lot about him at the moment except he was taken in by this guys son as he already has a white female boxer. As far as i know he has had him for a few months but as he is at work all day he is unable to give him as much attention as he needs. He is approx 18 months old and is still in the puppy stage. He is currently given the run of the house whilst this guy is out at work and as you can imagine gets up to all sorts of mischief!!
He is good with other dogs and people - he jumps up - but in a friendly way. He just needs someone who can spend a bit of time with him and do some training.

Their other dog is also a white boxer but is about three years old and has grown out of the puppy stage and is now 'calm' in a boxer sort of way:ohwell:!!

If anyone is interested let me know and i will find out some more about him for you. I know he is based in London but i would be able to help out with travel if it means giving a loving home to a boxer baby.

He does not want any money for him just a loving home where he knows he will be looked after.

I hope someone out there can help:smile:

Re: Loving home wanted

Would he not contact Boxer rescues, I just think they are best placed to rehome boxers, I hope he finds his new family soon, wish I could help but like you 3 is enough, apart from the fact Bonnie would never accept another one into the house

Re: Loving home wanted

I will suggest boxer rescue to him. I think he just wanted to try locally and by word of mouth first. He mentioned it to his Dad and straight away his Dad thought of me.

I think the reason my hubby said no was not so much the extra dog in the house but rather the extra cost involved - another pet insurance policy , more food, more money on flea and worming treatments etc. He already makes comments on how much we spend on the dogs each month. I know he doesn't mean it though as he loves them just as much as i do.

I really hope they do find a good home for him as it sounds like he just hasn't had the love and attention he deserves.

I hope they find the right home for him. I agree with Yvonne though, going through a rescue organisation will make sure the home he goes to is perfect for his needs - rather than someone acting on impulse and him being rehomed in 6 months time when someone finds themselves in the same situation as these owners.

Good luck with him, he sounds like he needs lots of TLC and some good sensible owners with plenty of time for him.

Re: Loving home wanted

He has said he won't just rehome him with anyone - it preferably has to be someone with a boxer already who understands their personalities that was why his dad mentioned it to me. After speaking to him it was me who suggested asking if anyone on here was interested as we are all boxer owners already. He is in no rush to get 'rid' of him.

He is hoping to get the right home for him direct rather than upsetting the dog anymore by moving him from one place to another.

Like i said though i will mention Boxer rescue to him as it would be a good alternative if he can't get a direct loving home for him with another boxer family.

Well with all the help and support you are giving, I am sure it will all turn out right!!

Unfortunately we have no room for him here - not that Rob would let me have another one anyway!!

Let us know how it all goes Caroline, will keep my fingers crossed he finds a new home soon.

Re: Loving home wanted

I would love to take him except from apart from the distance we couldnt have a male dog with Rosie. She has a medical condition which might make a male a bit too interested if you get the drift. Hence why when we were anxious to get another Boxer it had to be another female. Its worked out very well. I hate the thoughts of this puppy as he is same age as Katie.

I visit two sites in England which are both involved in Boxer rescue. I will post the links, both sites are lovely helpful involved people. One is the LETBR [Leics Essex Trent Boxer Rescue] and HCBW [Home Counties Boxer Welfare]. LETBR works closely with Battersea and any Boxer that comes in there. I would also say they would work closely with this pups owner if he was prepared to keep the dog until a new home was found. He would need to phone the secretary and discuss the situation with her. It is in everyone's best interest if the dog were to remain in his present home until a new one was found.

Im not sure of distance between London and these rescues but they will advise him.

Even if he were to phone Dawn - she could advise him. She really is a lovely person. I visit their site every day after being here.

Let us know what happens

Re: Loving home wanted

Sorry can't help here either. As we too are in the same position. We have a girl here that an old friend has "given" us. She contacted me about boxer rescue and when I met the beautiful boxer girl, we decided to take her in for a few weeks ourselves. We are going to see if she fits in our family, if she does then we may keep her. If she doesn't as we have 2 dogs a cat and kids already than I will proceed to find her a good home or put her into rescue. I guess we are kinda her foster parents for now. I will post more about her in another post.
Good luck with your search and I too recommend rescue. We placed our Zoey a couple years ago if anyone remembers and they were wonderful.

Re: Loving home wanted

I would love to help but 3 is enough, Im glad the guy is taking his time Dawn Nichols at Lincs Boxer rescue is really nice & helpful, my sister was offered a German Shepherd this week, his owners are going to Austrailia but can't affrod to take the dog with them
$ 2000 to take him, again the couple are taking their time finding the right home but I still think Breed Rescue is best, my sister did not take him cos she is in a tiny flat, she is expereinced in German Sheoherds but she had to be realistic, rule with her head rather than her heart
I hope they find their special homes soon

Re: Loving home wanted

Forgot to add the longer Gringo is missing the more I think of the Kordakis family for this boxer baby but I feel I would be giving up hope in finding Gringo, Im feeling very down about Gringo there has been not one word or sighting of him since his disappearance -really wondering if anything bad has happened to him, maybe if it was further down the line the Kordakis family will considered another boxer but not just yet
