he he Liz and Rob have not long left!

Well Liz and Rob were here for Carrigan this morning! They were awake at three am!
He is a typical bouncy (not trained very well) boxer.
I think he was quite confused as to what was going on. Although he did get in the car no problem.
Looking forward to hearing about his progress.
Thank you for giving this wee boy a boxer home!

Jacquie

Like the photo's! I was talking to Lorraine, you know how he doesn't like getting his back stroked. Do you think it's because he is so thin? Possibly feels it on his spine?

What did you think of Sasha's mouth? bit of a mess eh? I think Blue would have gone home with you, If we hadn't kept him in the kitchen. He certainly liked you. LOL

Aww bless he looks lovely. The pic of him in his bed makes him look so sad and lonely - bet he wont look like that for long!!

For a long time Sasha wouldnt let me stroke her back, head or especially her tummy. Is he hand shy at all - if he hasn't been properly trained, perhaps he just thinks you are going to tell him off rather than stroke him?

My last girl was also like that, and she had practically no fur on her hips and back where the mites from next door's chicken had got her!! Is is skin ok?

He looks like an absolute darling!! What did Xena and Duke make of him??!!!!

Look forward to lots more photos soon!

Re: he he Liz and Rob have not long left!

Being as Elaine is really busy today I thought I would let you know how Carrigan is getting on lol When we got back yesterday evening he got very excited seeing the kids, luckily he was on his lead and couldn't get too close else I think some of them would have lost a few body parts lol I'm not sure if I did the right thing but as Xena and Duke were in the garden I took him out (still on his lead) let them sniff each other then let him go!! A lot of barking and fighting followed but nothing serious and no blood !! I think Duke is a bit put out at there being another male playing with his Xena lol They seem to be getting on fairly well so I'm sure in a few days they'll be use to each other. With the kids well three are ok with him and the others are a bit unsure, (to say the least in one's case lol), he can be a bit snappy with them but as I keep telling them he's got to settle in and get use to having them running around just as much as they're getting use to him.

I took him for a walk this afternoon and all I can say is if he, (as Jackie had been told), pulled while walking I dread to think what Xena and Duke do lol It was a pleasure walking him, the lead I used was about four feet long and for half the walk it was hanging loose between me and him.

He follows me everywhere, it's like having a shadow and Elaine told me that when I took Xena and Duke out for there walk he just sat by the door waiting for me to return.

As for his back I think that was probably because he was confused and not sure what was going on, we've not had any problems stroking his back since we got back.

Carrigan seems more settled today, he's not growling and barking as much now when the door opens and seems to be a bit more relaxed with the kids round him, (once again less growling and snapping), so hopefully in a few more days he'll feel he's like a part of the family and more secure, after all on Friday he must have felt that his life had been turned upside down!!

Duke is getting brave now and has started picking on Carrigan like he does to Xena and Xena just seems to be lapping up all the attention lol

Jacquie I'll email you some photo's later, (have to get them approved by Elaine first!! lol), Sasha's mouth did look bad, hopefully the vet will be able to sort it without any problems, as for Blue well given half a chance I'd have had Blue in the car as well!! lol

Re: he he Liz and Rob have not long left!

When we got Sasha, she was really snappy and growly with the kids, despite the fact that she had had two in her previous house (I hate to use the term home!)

I just dont think she was taught to play with children properly and I was told the kids just tormented her etc.

Nowadays, she lets them know when she has had enough, but her limits are a lot higher and she loves playing with them daily.

Did Carrigan have children in his previous house?

Glad to hear he is settling in though - it must be so tough for these poor babies. After all, how does he know you are going to love him and care for him for the rest of his life, he probably thought his last folk would too! It's so sad for them.

Keep us up-to-date, I love hearing the stories of how their happiness and lives are turned around!!

I'm not sure if Carrigan is used to having children round him, having said that there are five of them here and he seems to be getting on fairly well with them now!! I suppose theres also the fact that he wouldn't have been use to having other dogs around either so he's had a lot of changes to get use to including the different accent!! lol

He didn't have kids staying in his house but when he was out for walks (when and if) he "just wanted to play with them". He was the only dog.
His life as you say has been turned upside down. Friday must have been really confusing for him. I'm sure with the TLC he's getting it wont take long before he feels like he has never lived with anyone else.
I think you'll find that each day you'll notice little improvements. Keep me posted.
I loved the photo's. Will add them to the site today.

Great news Rob and Elaine - glad Carrigan is settling in OK. Look forward to more up dates soon, I'm sure he will settle in just fine and Xena and Duke will either look after him or vice versa as the case may be.

Good luck, Paul
