Now that's a clever boxer

I am starting to wonder how clever boxers are. Buster not only recognises words, but seems to now know the days of the week. For example - with my husband and friends I take buster for a cross country run on a sunday morning which he loves so much, however he now knows that he has to get as much rest as possible on a saturday and goes to bed early without being told. It has become a regular occurance that he wanders up to bed around seven thirty every saturday night, even to the point that we are shouting up to him for his nightly toilet walk.

Not only that he has started to recognise our running clothes too.

He also knows when its a monday and that I am going to work. Even though my Husband is at home with him, he sulks all day until I come home.

Has anyone else got any clever boxer stories.

Our Mil's is a bit like that too, whenever I get my trainers out she's sat by my side, waiting for me to take her out for a run.
It's the same when I take them to my Mum's house for the day, they seem to know the journey and get excited when we reach the hill before her house, they love it there because they get to play all day with her German Sheperd - Yogibear!
I'm just guessing they've got a great memory, are they really that clever??? Mine do some really stupid stuff, like chasing their imaginery tails!
We've have just taught Ray to wave, shake a paw and hi 5, he's only 18weeks old, but Mille` won't have any of it, the most we can get her to do is say please for a treat, she sometimes mistakes sit for please and ends up barking at me when I tell her to sit....not too clever!!! :thud:
Bless her cottons, wouldn't change them for the world:loveya:

I don't know if Tizzy has even managed to work out that she is a dog yet, so anything else would be a bonus!

Sasha seems to know when we are going out before we even put the appropriate socks on! If my husband comes down the stairs in a certain pair of jeans, she gets excited knowing she is going out. If he is in uniform, she ignores him!

Polo seems to be able to read minds where walks are concerned, he always seems to know when it is only a thought in our heads. He knows when we're on the way to my parents, approached from either direction, and also on a Friday when youngest daughter is at kung fu he's up and ready as soon as I stand up to go and collect her, any other time I get up i the evening her doesn't even stir  also knows when it's time for her to come home from school. He also does shake a paw with his right paw & hi 5 using his left, and sits down without being told when we are to cross a road. Basically I think boxers are pretty intelligent dogs :loveya:

Gixer seems to know when it's Tuesday which is obedience class night he waits by the door til it's time to go. We call it "school" and he gets really excited so 1 day I spelt it and he recognised it then - unfortunately it was Monday!! He also knows when it's Sunday as we go Clay Pigeon dhooting and he gets really excited when the OH goes to the cupboard where the gun safe is!

cant say i really have a clever boxer, Heidi seems to think she can fly! she is forever trying to just step off the couch or the decking and think she can walk on air, gotta keep a close eye on her... funny thing is her eyesight is perfect lol... but like the others she does also try and chase the tail she doesnt have lol!

Perhaps you should take up Cani-X, found it today on the net when searching for dog training classes, check out the link it might interest those of you who regularly run with your pooches! Not sure if me and Mille are up to that yet, but something to work towards! http://wwww.cani-cross.co.uk/cc_whatis.shtml

Thanks I might check that out. The only problem is buster likes to be at the front, but I do not think I do!!
