First of all in a local shop got talking to a girl whose sister had recently got an "albino" Boxer. Patiently explained that just because her sister's dog was white, it did not make it an albino. White Boxers were just "white" dogs. Her "trump" card to me was that the Boxer had pink bits round its eyes and the vet said the dog was an albino...... ..
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then in a pet store an assistant got talking and the conversation went like this Big dog, is it a Boxer - yes You dont see white ones very often - no, they can't be shown and there are a lot of myths about them What sort of myths - that they an be deaf or blind but in fact there is no more deaf or blind than in other white breeds Hmm, he can see can't he, is he deaf then - ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() End of conversation as I walked off!!!!! Worst of all I have got involved with a so called "expert" on dogs [he believes he is anyway] and he believes all the rubbish and myths that have been written, says that there are breeders in the UK who deliberately set out to breed for Whites and started to quote statistics on blind pups, deaf pups etc in dalmatians and how White Boxers are the same - eek!!!!!!

I have given up on the number of times I have tried to educate someone on white boxers - we get a lot of people saying they wont take a white. Think I could say it in my sleep now!

Hee Hee. I am actually quite enjoying correcting people. I was walking Snoop the other morning and some who was walking thier owner boxer was insisting that Snoop must be crossed with something and there was no such thing as a white boxer.
I talked to him for about 10 mins before refering him to this website and walking off. ![]() Katie.

Oh,boy!Yeah,I always used to get that,What a pretty pitbull you have.Or,oh my!What kind of dog IS that?!Or,she looks mean.
I would try to explain about white boxers. My Chloe loved everybody and everything. She didn't have a mean bone in her body.Thought everyone was just a friend she hadn't met yet,but was quite shy, around new folks too. Ugh!People!!! |

It's fun talking to "experts" isn't it. I always get the "Is he deaf" conversation - my answer is usually "yes just like any other male - he is selectively deaf!!" - not always appreciated as you can imagine . I also seem to have people telling me he will be completely crazy and have lots of skin problems.... THe best time was when we did our bronze good citizen - the "examiner" who is a "dog snob" took an instant dislike to him as he is white. Gixer was the only boxer in the group and she insited on calling him "the WHITE Boxer" I was getting so cross but Gix got his own back. When she went to look in his mouth as part of the test he slimed her right up her hand and arm everyone sniggered and I just smiled sweetly.

Mad & Uncontrollable perfeclty describes my white boxer... but I'm confident it has nothing to do with his color. He is just wild & uncontrollable. He is not deaf but regularly chooses not to listen. He is 7.5 months so I can HOPEFULLY plan on him settling down in the next year or so... when all the puppy stage has passed! Maybe I'm dreaming

Myth or not... Tucker has lots of skin allergies. He is always itching and the vet has put him on steriods (again) and more anti-histamines. We bath him in baby shampoo and use gold bond baby powder to ease the irritation. He also has already gotten two ear infections. Anyone else dealing with these same issues? Tyson, my older boxer, never had anything like this. He had mild allergies as a puppy but he grew out of those quickly.

Hello there, I am completely new to this forum but not so new to Boxers....... I love them. I have up unitl 15th December owned 2 boxers. One 'red' called Monty and one 'white' called Hugo. Sadly I lost Monty on this date which has been, as you will all understand , quite horrendous. Monty would have been 9 this year ( a young age to be lost I know ). Anyway I now have to concentrate on Hugo who will be 2 in march. Hugo has, from a couple of months old suffered with only what I describe as 'teenage acne'.......He has been treated with antibiotics a few times but only to reappear a couple of weeks later.....It does not seem to worry him but is truly unsightly and looks quite pussy bloody and sore on occasions....I wonder if anyone has any advise or info on causes, treatments etc etc.. Thanks

My vet thinks that Tucker doesn't have any food allergies because I asked if I should switch his diet but she said that typically doesn't occur until they are older. Has anyone else ever heard that? I'm thinking I should switch him to a more sensitive food just to be on the safe side....

Someone called the rescue today for a boxer. They were a bit concerned that we would give them one because they have to have boxer experience! Seeing as they had only had a white one, surely they weren't experienced as they weren't real boxers!
Beggars belief sometimes!

Have you tried giving him a capsule of primrose oil, or starflower oil? We had the same thing with our red boxer Daisy, the vet recommended it, and we havent' had any problems yet, the white one Wynn doesn't seem to have developed any irritations, but I give him the same every day anyway - so maybe he won't!
