Hi All,
Hopefully this will put a smile on your face, it makes me giggle every day. We've had Snoop for about 8 months now and one of the main problems has been with one of our cats Con who is norweign forest cat (aka, a massive furry thing )who is a right bully. Snoop as many battle scars from him. Over the last couple of weeks however we have noticed that the pecking order has well and truely been established. Case studies below: Meal times; Con has to be fed first, as soon as i open the cupboard he barges infront of Snoop, swipes at him then sits in Snoops bowl. The con will only eat out of Snoops bowl. Evenings: As soon as Snoop lies down anywhere Con will stride up, growl and hiss. Snoop will then get up and move. Routine starts again. Day: Con will walk up to Snoop, stride under his chin, flick his tail, walk under snoop, between his back legs and flick his, urm, manly area shall we say!! Garden: Con will walk along the fence teasing Snoop then jump down and chase him round the garden. Normally resulting in a bloody nose or ear and Snoop cowering next to me. Toys: Have all migrated to Cons bed and Snoop cant get near. Result - Snoop is offically lowest in the pecking order. We have had several occassions where the cat has been sat in the doorway or on the side of the sofa and the dog is far to scared to walk past. Very funny to watch! Hee hee!!! Wimpy mutt.

I can imagine the scenario.
Just a word of caution. Snoop isnt very old but once he is mature it could very well be very different with the tables being turned on the cat. At worst Snoop may turn into a cat hater. Some Boxers dont like cats at all. I would set your ground rules now and first thing I would stop is the cat eating out of Snoops bowl, even if you have to feed Snoop in a different room. If the cat is drawing blood on Snoops face, you need to be very careful, if one of the cats claws even accidently gets near to Snoops eye and scratches the surface it could cause a eye ulcer and they can be very painful and difficult to heal. http://www.penstone-vets.co.uk/corneal_ulcers.htm Prevention is better than cure....... I wouldnt allow the cat to hiss + growl at Snoop and make him move and definitely would not allow the cat to steal all the toys and keep them. No matter whether they are cats or dogs, they all need ground rules. Helen

Trust me we keep a very close eye on both of them. Strangley enough Snoop is great with our other cat and our neighbours cat. We often find them all snuggled up together.
Con just thinks he's a dog! Thank you very much for the adivce.

My two boys have a very different relationship with each of our three cats. The cats have very interesting personalities. My older fat cat isn't bothered by either of the dogs and loves Tyson to death. One of the other cats is scared of Tucker and Tucker is apparently amused by this or thinks Jasper enjoys being chased.... both leave our other cat, Dahlia, alone. She is a loner and doesn't want to be bothered with dogs... they are too funny to watch! They all live well together all in all. Thanks for sharing. Poor Snoop

Ha ha, sounds like Con is making the most of things while Snoop is little!!
![]() I am sure he wont be so keen to hiss and spit at him when Snoop is a bit bigger. That being said, the things Tizzy was wary of as a pup, she still is so perhaps Con is doing his best to make sure Snoop understands who is boss very early on ![]()
