boys have really been playing up since Smudgey past last sunday, constantly fighting with each other and being defient and destructive, don't know what to do with them

The best thing you can do is just get them back to their proper routine and behaviour as quickly as possible. They don't necessarily understand the mourning process, but they will definitely be picking up on your emotions and moods.
Was Smudgey top dog? They may be trying to re-organise their pecking order, which means that, as long as they aren't hurting each other, you just need to let them get it out of their system. Try and avoid competitive games, like chasing balls or playing tuggies as that could set it off again. Plenty of walks to clear their heads and keep them tired until they get it out of their system xxxx
