Hi Everyone
You may recall my saying about my mum's new neighbours and the kids teasing/scaring Katie. Well I have had the last week off work [hurrah] and had my parents down at my own house. Brilliant week ![]() Brought mum up home today, was unpacking her things from the car and taking them in via the side gate. Katie was noseying around the garden. Rosie had gone indoors to check everything was as it should be. You know adult Boxers!! Finished the unpacking and started to water mum's hanging baskets. Could hear a hose in use over the back but thought nothing of it as someone was obviously washing a car. A couple of times I noticed Katie jumping back from the top hedge, after the second time I took particular notice. Well, twice in quick succession - as Katie went up to the hedge, a jet of water came through the hedge and hit her making her bounce back. Now she was not frightened as sometimes down home I will put the hose on a gentle spray when it is very hot and hang it up for them. They love darting in and out of the water and catching the water in their mouth. However I took great exception to someone - an adult no less - shooting hose water through the hedge in her face! I am slow to rise to bait but once I do get mad - beware! In a very loud angry voice I let rip about inconsiderate, nasty not very nice people who would put a hose on a puppy. Of course I said a lot more. I brought Katie indoors and had to dry her off. Her head, neck, chest and shoulders - the water was just running off her and her little eyes were the jet had obviously caught her. Katie is a little dog who likes her garden, more so than Rosie who likes being indoors! So when she wanted out again about half an hour later, I went out cautiously but lo and behold, there was not a sound, kids and all had been taken indoors and they all stayed indoors for the rest of the day! ![]() I stopped short [today] of going round and telling him what I thought of his antics [99.9% sure it was him] and his obviously warped sense of humour but anymore and I will and not only that I will go further. If they will do nasty things to a puppy what else are they capable of! Helen :screams: |

Helen I admire your restraint!!
I second Jacquie, send the professionals in and let them do the talking, would probably have more effect anyway. Poor Katie, I do hope she isn't getting too upset with all this, although hopefully she doesnt understand the malicious intent and just sees it as fun. Grrrr I cant stand mean kids ............... how come they dont have training schools for them! Good luck with it all

Hi Everyone
Well I was out in the garden tonight doing some much needed tidying up when I heard the kids from over the back calling the dogs. So I said "Hello, who is that" - dead silence then this little voice chirped "Me". Well, what would you have done. English is their second language and considering the eldest two are twins aged 5, their English is not bad. There is also a baby of 2. Now, I did ask their names but dont think I picked them up right but I explained to the little girl, who was the most talkative that when they screamed very loudly near to Katie it frightened her as she was just a big baby puppy. To simplify it I said that Rosie was the "Mommy dog" It was rather disconcerting talking through a thick hedge! The boy twin ran off - discovered he is the one that screams when Katie goes to the hedge, think he is half scared of dogs. Mum came - her English was not good either but she was nice and kept telling me that she liked dogs and she hoped that when the children went to school in September their English would improve and she would learn more. Well I ended up thinking it must be lonely for mum not speaking the lingo with 3 small children and maybe the children are a bit wild but better to try and be friendly and persausive than go fisty cuffs. At 5 years old there is only so much they understand and I guess it is exciting peering through a hedge and seeing two big dogs. Anyway see how it goes, after I had spoken to them they did not bother the dogs and I was outside until 09.00pm. So fingers crossed everyone please........... Helen |

Really glad you managed to talk to them about it. Sounds like you may have hit the jack pot. Keeping my fingers crosses it works.
The thought of living in a country that I cant talk the launguge would frighten me to death! God I cant even spell in English and I've lived here all my life (well most of it)

Good on you Helen, its good to see that the common sense approach won through in the end!
Fingers crossed that this is the start of a new friendship for the children and Katie
