A bit of advice please

Bobbi is now 8 months old and has just come into her first season. I have never had a bitch before, i have only had dogs, so its all new to me. I have read up a bit about it on the net, but i wanted some views from other owners. She is lethargic and seems to be off her food. Her tummy is upset and she is not her usual bouncy self. Is this normal? She has been bleeding nearly a week and has been banished to the kitchen to preserve the floors in the rest of the house. I am very careful when i walk her, and she is being lead walked most of the time, just to make sure she is not pounced on by other dogs. Any advice or views would be very welcome.
Cheers
Jason

Re: A bit of advice please

I'm sorry I cant give any advice on this, Poppy was spayed at 8 months before her first season, but I wanted to send huge hugs :bighug: to Bobbi.

I do think its normal for them to be off colour for a while during their season, maybe you could phone the vet I'm sure they will advise you. She might be a bit upset from being banished to the kitchen too if she's used to being allowed to roam the house. Maybe she would lie on a blanket or old towel in the room next to you? You know what boxers are like for wanting to be with you!

I hope Bobbi is feeling better soon.

Aww bless, poor Bobbi. :bighug:

Sasha had one season before I got her spayed and yes, she was grumpy, moody, moany and miserable!! PMT big time!!

We just left her in peace to sort herself out and kept her company when she wanted attention. She was also off her food and generally just not herself. This lasted for at least 3 weeks to be honest.

You can get knickers for them to wear which will preserve your carpets and there is also a spray that you can put on her to help deflect the scent.

If you are going to get her spayed, it is normally at least 6 weeks after her season has finished.

Hope Bobbi cheers up soon :flowers:

Re: A bit of advice please

What Bobbi is going through is quite normal, Keasha had 2 seasons before i got her spayed.

She is probably feeling a bit sorry for herself because her tummy will be a bit sore and she cant understand what she has done wrong to be banished to the kitchen.

Try getting her the knickers if shes bleeding a lot and treat her normally she'll soon come round.

Shona x
