THIS MAY SOUND STUPID BUT HAS ANYONE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEIR POOCH HAVING ITCHY PAWS?
THE REASON I ASK IS THAT AFTER TAKING CHAOS FOR A WALK YESTERDAY HE WENT NUTS WHEN WE GOT BACK IN. USUALLY HE FLAKES OUT FOR HOURS BUT HE KEPT RUNNING AROUND THE HOUSE, RUBBING HIS PAWS ON THE CARPET AND LICKING HIS PAWS REALLY BADLY. I STARTED TO GET A BIT WORRIED. I WONDERED IF PERHAPS HE GOT STUNG OF THE NETTLES WHEN OUT BUT DUNNO. HAS ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS???? |

Hi Amanda,
It could be various things. Have you got any canistan cream in the house? If you do put some of that on his feet. It works for allergies ect. Let us know how you get on. Tee trea oil diluted in water is also good.

I would stick an antihistime in his dinner too just to make sure.
Sasha sometimes gets itchy paws, but she only had it really bad not long after we first got her. If they manage to keep licking at them etc then they will start to smell a little too! I used tea tree on her for it - didnt have any cannestan! My last girl took a very bad reaction to Shake n Vac! Didnt even occur to me that it would affect her, so now I dont use anything on the carpets that doesnt wash off. They are just so darn sensitive arent they!

Look at your food too - have you introduced any new kind of tinned dog food? Some are very rich and just not suitable for Boxers. Katies been nibbling her feet too. Im giving her piriton and some milk thistle.

You could also try Thornit, old fashioned canker powder - have a read here - scroll down to near the bottom where it says 'If your dog has itchy paws.'
I use it on Polo's when he starts really chewing on them, he's really good and just lets me put it on, I tend to put some in the palm of my hand then put his foot on it. Only problem is my 14 year old doesn't like the smell (a bit like iodine I think) and moans about it.:pirate:
