Lymphoma

Hi I know i am new never knew your site existed before. Just thought i would post. My big baby boy casper who is 12yrs old, is going through a bit of a rough time, he was diagnosed with Lymphoma in October and things are now getting bad with him. Our vets offered us, chemo or steroids, both which he said given his age there could be no guarantees and also would put him through the mill a bit, or we could treat him well (not that he hasn't already) and let him live out his last months being spoilt!!!!!! Would that be any different to usual. Given his age which chose the latter. It has been hard watching him deteriorate in front of us, he is now not that bothered with walks, loves to welcome us back home etc he doesn't seem to be in any pain at min but we keeping our eye on him, we know the time is soon but reviewing him daily. We will all be devastated when the time comes and we know it wont be that long. Sorry for rambling on we just gutted xx:thud:

Re: Lymphoma

Am so sorry to hear about Casper. How lucky for him that he has such a good family that is making sure his needs are met first and foremost.

Sounds like you are doing a wonderful job of looking after him and I am sure he is grateful of every day he has with you.

I wish you strength for your difficult time ahead :bighug:

Re: Lymphoma

How dreadful for you all, it's so difficult watching them deteriorate, we had that with our old dog

It sounds like you are doing the right thing for Casper and he obviously knows how much he is loved. Take care :bighug:

Please come on the forum and talk all you want, it will help you to do so. My eyes filled with tears when I read your post both for Casper and his health issues but also for you and your family. It is wonderful that Casper has such a loving family around him and he sounds as if he loves you all just as much.
Keeping you all in our thoughts.
Helen xx

Re: Lymphoma

How awful for all of you but how lucky Casper is to have such a loving familly and home. It is awful to watch them deteriorate - we did that with our first Boxer through a different illness though but he knows you all love him. Can I also say I think it is great when the vet is honest and tells you ALL the options and not just try and get loads of money off you to no effect. Ours is like that anf I trusdt everything she tells us as the animal is at her best interests and not the money...

Re: Lymphoma

Hi All,

Just been reading all of your replies to my post, I had to register again because I had computer problems couldnt remember anything. But well here goes,

thank you for all of your kind words re my boy casper. Sadly he passed away peacefully 2 weeks ago. We are all gutted because he was and will always be an integral part of our family.

We knew in our hearts that he could no longer go on, he looked awful, could hardly walk and seemed to be in a lot of pain. It has taken me this long to come on here and I am doing this with a lump in my throat, I can just about talk about him now without crying.

At least we know in our hearts now he is at peace, he was a good age and had a good life.

Thanks for all your thoughts
:crying:
Helen xx
