A cyst did this

I may have mentioned before about the cyst Rosie took on her back and before we got her to the vets it burst. It appeared on a Friday evening, by Sunday it was as big as an egg/plum. Phoned vet and got appt on the Tues. Morning night it burst - mustve happened during the night as I was keeping such a close eye on it. The vet cut away some of the hair - you can see the small area at the top of the pic [her back] as the skin has went black, she said Rosie's hair would come out as I got it clean and clear of the hardened pus but I never expected devastation like this  It also caused ezema on her skin. This can unfortunately happen in hypothyroid dogs. The vet said it was an acutely painful condition and I can vouch for that as I have spent days bathing the area and no matter how gentle I was you could tell it was not pleasant for her. It was so sad as with each gentle dab or stroke of the area, her hair just comes out in clumps. I think I am on top of it now and she is such a brave girl. Although the photo shows the bare area it does not accurately show the very sore red ezcema.

Ouch!I am glad to hear it's on the mend!I do know that things can happen VERY quickly like that.My boston Toby, had a small raised area on his butt.Made a vet appointment, before we coiuld go,it burst! It was his anal gland.
I'm very careful now,and watch for this.I felt bad,but it happened so quickly, just like your baby's cyst. So,don't feel bad.Thank goodness it's getting better.
Do you know if the hair will grow back in???

She has her good and bad days with the Laryngeal paralysis, sadly more bad than good but we take each day as it comes. It is always at the back of your mind that one day she just wont be able to breathe......

On the plus side the hair is growing back over the bare bits which is good news.
