Living under a cloud...............

Didnt mentiion this before - couldn't really as its been too upsetting.

Had Rosie to the vets last week and they were very concerned, they thought she was going into kidney failure and had a possible tumour on her liver and told me I would have to think seriously about "making a decision". They wanted her to have a scan. They thought Rosie's abdomen was distended and filled with fluid - sign the liver was failing. Rosie was so stiff and sore from her spondylosis that they gave her a low dose steroid pill to help her along with more antibiotics [to help the liver]. | was not over fussed on the idea of putting her through a scan. Even if they did find a tumour Rosie would be too frail to go through chemo or radiotherapy and I didnt want her to go through the stress of the scan

We had to make another appointment to see the head vet this week

I dont take headaches - not since they got my BP under control but by golly I have had them since that vet visit.

We saw the head vet today and she was much more encouraging. She saw no point in Rosie having a scan. She didnt think Rosie's abdomen was distended. In herself Rosie has not been drinking so much, the little steroids have been helping that. It is a low dose steroid with an anti inflammatory in it and a small dose Aspirin. They have helped her stiffness/soreness a little bit which is a boost to her.

So, she has to stay on the antibiotics for approx 3-4 months and she can stay on the steroids [PLT's} indefinitely. Apparently this is the treatment for the liver - antibiotics and steroids anyway

The relief I felt was beyond anything anyone could imagine when I got her out into the car again to bring her home. Before I left for the vets today my poor mum was nearly in tears.

The relief to have our "Angel" home again with us is undescrible.

Glad to hear the meds are working. Your vets seem to be very good at giving you worst case scenarios and putting you through a lot of worry - its a wonder you aren't on valium x
