Sasha's Cured!!

I just thought I would let you know that it seems Sasha has finally gotten rid of her seperation anxiety!

........... well at least I hope so anyway!!

The school run started on Monday and normally she is a quivering wreck by the front door and then cries or pants etc while we are out. Anyway this week was hubby's turn for the run and I was upstairs in bed ............... she stayed in her bed most mornings and I didn't hear a peep while she was out. In fact when I came downstairs, the lazy toad didn't get out of bed until I got to the bottom step!

This morning was a big test as it was the first time since Christmas that I had done the school run. She went to her bed at 8.15am after saying good morning to everyone and didn't even get out when I left. She lifted her head but that was it and when I came home she got out, said hello briefly and went back again.

It is so wonderful to see her back to her normal, calm, happy self again! I don't know if it was just she had a break from being left alone over the Christmas period, but she is just a different dog this week than the last week of school!

The clomnicalm stops this week, so that will be the test, although I don't think it was that as she still acted weird while she was taking it. I just think she got herself worked up and then when there was nothing to get stressed about, she forgot she was supposed to be doing it!

Will let you know how she is getting on, but fingers crossed!

That's great news Karen, hopefully Sasha'll stay like that, maybe the hustle & bustle of Christmas broke the 'habit' she'd got herself into.

Re: Sasha's Cured!!

All going well still. All we have to do now is stop her releasing her anal glands everytime she thinks her world is going to end!!

If the doorbell rings, someone raises a voice, we move furniture, the phone goes, we get ready to go out, she gets excited ................... in fact it could be just about anything ................. and she releases those charming glands!

90% of the time, my house has the most "wonderful" aroma - you should have smelt it here when we swapped my children's bedrooms around last week!

Anyway the vet is giving us something specific for the anal gland thing, so hopefully I will be able to give the Air Wicks and break soon!!

Re: Sasha's Cured!!

All still seems to be going well. Sasha hasn't pined once and has stopped acting like her world is going to fall apart if we leave her.

We have started taking her with us sometimes, now that she is calmer and have even managed to start taking her back to the playground again, which she loves.

She even seems to have stopped making that horrible smell. Hubby is packing to go to the Gulf today and his kit is spread all over the living room floor - normally that would mean our house stank as Sasha paced around oozing herself into a green haze, but not a whiff.

The vet has said that he isn't going to bother prescribing clomnicalm anymore, he is just going to prescribe Christmas, because whatever it was during that time - it worked.

Nice to have my baby back!
