Tizzy in for an op

Just to keep me on my toes, Tizzy is going in on 19th January to have a lump removed. It has been there for some time, but I didn't have the courage to get it checked out while Sasha was so ill - couldn't handle any more drama!

Vet is pretty certain the lump is a mast cell tumour because it keeps coming and going etc, it actually disappeared just before we went in (typically) but it came back after she was shaved lol. Because it hasn't really increased too much in size since it started, John is fairly confident that it's a low grade MCT. She is now sporting a dashing square shaved patch on her back, so they know where it is on the day!

The lump will be sent off and we'll know more then, you never know it could even come back as a cyst (hopefully)! Am not too worried about it just now, especially if it is low grade, will just have to keep an eye on her for any more appearing in the future.

Hopefully it is the same as Harvey had, harmless Histiocytoma. Fingers crossed xx

Re: Tizzy in for an op

Tizzy's op is this Thursday coming. :luck:

I am really pleased with how well she is coping with losing Sasha, I think we definitely did the right thing by her. She hasn't pined at all. She obviously misses her, especially on walks etc, but she doesn't go looking for her.

She is coming out of her shell a wee bit more and even barked at the door the other day - that was always Sasha's job lol. We are noticing other wee traits about her too, which we think are new and she is definitely getting more lively in the house. She even greets guests now, rather than hiding half way up the stairs until Sasha has calmed down!

Re: Tizzy in for an op

Tizzy had her op today and is doing ok. Very dopey and disorientated, but I am struggling to see the difference from her normal state - bless her.

She didn't need a GA which was good, can't imagine how much more dopey she would be from that!

Vet is still 100% certain it is an MCT, especially after seeing it, but he is also equally certain that it will come back as low grade, which means we will just have to keep a close eye out for any more lumps in the future. He took another one off that she had on her leg, just in case, but he thinks that was more likely an infected hair folicle or something.

Results will be back next week sometime and she gets her stitches out on 31st Jan

Re: Tizzy in for an op

Tizzy is doing fab, op not bothering her at all. She was out for a really long walk yesterday, so is pooped today lol.

Hopefully should have the results by Wednesday, vet will phone me.

Other than the big patch on her back, you wouldn't know anything happened to her!

Re: Tizzy in for an op

Good news re Tizzy's lump. It was a hemangioma (blood tumour) and was benign. It has been completely removed and the one on her leg was something to do with her allergies, so all is good. I can relax for the first time since Sasha got ill in June!
