Poor Polo!

Came home from work at lunchtime today to find Polo covered in huge lumps, most about the size of a 2 coin, obviously an allergic reaction to something, heaven only knows what! He'd been his usual walk (aka mad run around :roundnround:smile: in the morning, no different food etc the lumps weren't itchy. The vet gave him an injection and they soon started going down  He looked really strange & my 16 year old daughter said we couldn't take him ANYWHERE looking like that! :smash6: Very strange, just hope it doesn't happen again!

Poor thing!!

Sounds as if it was something that had happened whilst he was out running - We have to watch kirei as she has got a thing about rolling around in stinging nettles! Strange dog!!!!

Hope he is okay now and it doesn't happen again. It's worrying though isn't it.

Aw bless the poor wee guy! Wonder what could have caused it, mind you, you will probably never know! He may take a reaction to it today and it wont bother him again. Boxers are such funny creatures that way.

Hope he is totall recovered soon and that your daughter is happy to take him out in public again soon!!

Re: Poor Polo!

Glad to hear that POLO is back on colour.
Any clues to what caused it yet?

Re: Poor Polo!

Jill, we have no idea what may have caused the reaction. When we got up this morning he had some lumps around his shoulders, neck and chin, nowhere near as bad as Wednesdaythough - gave him an anti-histamine tablet which has helped, so obviously whatever it was hasn't completely gone from his system, but he's fine in himself  He's definitely enjoying the fuss

Re: Poor Polo!

Hi
First time this happens it is always alarming! Take heart in Boxers [daxies too] because they have thinner close coats we tend to see the allergy "spots"lumps" more than other breeds. You will usually find that this is a "seasonal" thing too - late/autumn/winter these allergies leave them alone. Also as they grow older these raised hives/lumps dont seem to afflict them so much.
It is also a good idea to check the protein level on the food that you are feeding. The higher the protein the more likelihood [as we have discovered over the years] of allergies and problems
Antihistamines re very effective.
Hope he is okay now.:rotflmao:

Hi Yvonne, lovely to hear from you and yours again. I really cannot believe that Rocky is one already, I bet he is a handsome chap as he was always gorgeous when he was younger. Sorry to hear your computer troubles are still ongoing but hopefully you'll be back with us again soon, then you can update us with how you are all getting on, it sounds like you've been having quite a busy time:smile:Take care,
