Hi Elaine

Sorry to hear about Zeus. Hope the medicine helps clear up the fluid and make him a bit more comfortable. Hope that the vets are able to help in some way.

With a name like Zeus I'm sure he has a fighting spirit.

Fingers crossed from all in South Wales and lots of boxer kisses from Tash and Molly.

Elaine, that sounds awful, poor little chap  I hope his medicine helps and your vets can sort him out - he's too little to be so poorly. Keep us posted on how he gets along, bless him.

Re: My poor zeus

Hiya,

Thanks for the messages. Today Zeus is looking a lot better, (less like a barrel and more like a boxer) his tummy has gone down and hes more energetic
We were told by our vet that the fluid was connected to his heart murmor, but we are now thinking and wondering if it could have been down to something else ie.... something he ate which got stuck :nonono:
I suppose all we can do is watch him, give him the medication and see what happens.
Will let you know how thing go, hopefully it will all be good news :roundnround:

Re: My poor zeus

Poor Zeus he certainly has had a bumpy start to life.

Here's hoping that the medication soon works and he'll be bouncing around again soon.

Our Boxer babies certainly know how to make us worry like crazy when they are poorly.

Give Zeus a kiss from me and my 3 Boxer girlies in Berks.

Hi Elaine

I hope Zeus is feeling a bit better now - you said his belly had started to go down so that it a good sign.

It is so stressful when they are ill isn't it - you worry like mad about them.

When our brindle one - Tia - had to have a lump removed from her side she was only at the vets for a day but that was all i thought about for the whole day until we went to pick her up, and she was fine just ike nothing had happened.

Hopefully you wil get some better news when you take him back to the vets next week.

All the best

Caroline

Hi Everyone

Thanks so much for all your messages, we have been and still are worried sick , were just keeping our fingers crossed.
Zeus is back to the vets on monday morning, hopefully the vet might be able to grade his heart mumor and give us a bit of good news.
He has been a lot better, his tummy has gone down, hes running around playing with Xena and the kids, he hasnt been off his food at all, its making us wonder why the vets gave us the decision as to wether we wanted him to be put to sleep.
We did go into another vets to inquire about heart mumors and explaned what had happened to Zeus, but again we was told fluid in his tummy is probably something connected to his heart (i dont suppose it will change however many vets we go to).
Its just hard not knowing whats really going on.
Will let you know what happens on monday

Re: My poor zeus

Hi Elaine

That sounds a bit harsh - asking if you want him to be put to sleep, he sounds like he is feeling much better in himself.
Hopefully the vets will give you much better news tomorrow.
Tia - our brindle boxer has a grade 2/6 heart murmer and when we asked the vet about it he said it is really nothing to worry about as they are very common in boxers, just not to let her run around and get too excited when it is very hot.
I was looking on a website about boxers and that also said that anything from a 3/6 or below should not really cause any problems in most dogs.
Hopefully when they grade his tomorrow it will not be too bad.
Good luck and i wish him a speedy recovery.
Give him some kisses from Tia, Kieri & Henry.

Hi
Hope all goes well - take heart our first Boxer had a heart murmur diagnosed when young. She would collapse when out. We had her until she was nearly 13 years old! Will be thinking of you all.

Hi Elaine

Good luck with Zeus, and I hope you get some good news soon!

A friend of mine has a three year old boxer with a heart murmer. Apparently she is known to collapse on walks, but as long as they know her limits they are fine.

I understand there is a lot that can be done for heart murmers in dogs these days, so hopefully Zeus' condition will be managed effectively and you can get plenty of love out of him.

Hi Everyone,

Just got back from the vets, Zeus has got a grade 4 heart mumor and the vets think its a problem with one of his valves.
Hes got to carry on with the medication, and hes got another appointment for in 3 weeks.
The vet was amazed at how much better he looked :roundnround:
Thanks for all the messages of good will, hopefully Zeus will be fine on the medication and have a great life.
I'll keep you all posted on his progress :loveya:

Re: My poor zeus

Hi Elaine and Rob

Glad to hear that Zeus is doing much better, at least you know now how serious his heart murmer is.

We just got back from the vets a while ago - our pups went for their first injections and check up. Henry has a very slight heart murmer, just a grade 1 but there is a good chance he could grow out of it by 16 weeks.

All the other puppies were completely healthy, except for the deaf one, but the vet said he is not entirely deaf as he can hear high pitched sounds.

You must be a lot less stressed now that you know he is getting better and there is a lot that can be done for the more serious heart problems now, so i am sure that he will live a long and healthy life with the right treatment.

I think sometimes the vets do look on the worse side of things as when we took Henry to the vets at two weeks old and he was really weak - even though they didn't come out and say it straight - you could tell they didn't think he would survive the night and look at him now - a lively little thing who is just a bit smaller than the others.

I hope everything goes well for you when you take him back in three weeks and that he continues to get better.

Love from Caroline, Brendan, Tia, Kirei and little Henry xxx

Hi Elaine & Rob

Glad to hear Zeus is feeling batter and that the vets are happy with his progress. Hopefully the medication will continue to improve / stabilise Zeus and he will be able to lead as normal a life as possible for a boxer anyway - let's face it boxers are far from being normal at the best of times.

How are you both doing? Still stressed and anxious or feeling a little better? Hope you are feeling more positive than you were and that it is good news in 3 weeks time.

All the best from South Wales and lots of boxer kisses from Molly and Tash.

Paul

Hi Everyone

Just a quick update to let you all know Zeus seems to be doing a lot better :roundnround:
He's getting used to taking his tablets morning and night and his colour seems better.
We feel better now knowing what grade his heart mumor is and knowing that the tablets should help.
Thanks again to everyone for your replys
I'll post again after his next trip to the vets
