Albinism or White Boxers

Hi everyone
Puppy has arrived. She is adorable, very tiny and very fiesty.

She can definitely hear however I have noticed that when you call her she comes to the sound of your voice rather than what she sees. She can see to pounce on close up things but I wonder if her sight is 100 per cent. Perhaps she is just too young to be probably co-ordinated just yet.

Any thoughts anyone?

Congratulations on your new arrival! I am sure she will bring you many happy years of boxer love!

Sasha still doesnt always work out where a sound is coming from and she has perfect hearing! I can call her sometimes and she wont even know it is me, or what room I am in, yet she can her her draw of treats open when she is sound asleep - how strange??!!!

I wouldnt worry about her sight, she is still so young and is probably still not fully developed in all areas - I am sure she is perfectly healthy!

You are right, today she was much better co-ordinated. Forgot to mention that at 7 1/2 weeks she can "sit". When our older girl lifts her paw to give to you, so does the pup!
Thanks for your advice.

Hi Helen

You should of seen our two at that age - anybody would have thought we had been putting brandy with their food!!! Molly improved faster than Tash as I remember but that said it took at least 3 months before they stopped falling over - I'm not sure if the lack of a tail hinders their balance or not?

Catching treats was also another point of hilarity - Molly soon picked it up but Tash's co-ordination was rubbish - you would hold the treat in the air and let it fall towards her and when it passed her mouth she would try and catch it, funny to watch but v-frustrating for tash I would imagine. Anyway you should see her now she has reflexes second to none - a compensation for being deaf I presume her eye sight and co-ordination is exceptional.

I'm sure over the coming months Katies will improve every day and she will pick so much u off Rosie as well.

All the best, Paul

Hi Everyone
Oh yes Miss Katie is great fun. Very vocal puppy, you should hear her growl and bark. She growls if she does not get her own way. Today I just laughed at her, so funny this tiny 8 week old puppy growling at me! Told her she was being silly, made her madder but she came round. I can see her independent streak even at 8 weeks. Dont mind that so long as its independence. She is just begining to find her feet so to speak. She has been ill with cystitis would you believe but our vet worked wonders and she is better than she was. It meant a delay in getting her jabs.

Wish her appetite would improve - alas she is a picky eater and I worry about her weight!

K
