Puppy Ectopic Ureters

Hi
Has anyone come across this condition, know anyone that has had a puppy with it, had the surgery etc and if so was it successful?

My vet suspects that out little white puppy has it.

Well I contacted pupís breeder about what was happening and he phoned last night. He was very concerned and is contacting a Specialist Vet on our behalf. He said that if it is hereditary [it hasnít been proven] then it needs to be investigated as itís not something that anyone wants. He really was genuinely interested and very helpful.

Is your pup female? I was just reading about the condition and it appears females suffer from it, don`t think there is any males mentioned. yvonne

Hi Yvonne
Yes, she is female. It is mainly females that are affected but some males are too to a much lesser extent.

Getting up several times during the night to take her outis helping her problem. Keeps her and her bedding dry.

Re: Puppy Ectopic Ureters

She is fine! Specialist vet said it is cystitis [sighs of relief all round!!]. He was a bit scathing about our own vet. Must admit I am not happy either - if I had let themm go ahead do £200 x-rays and surgery which was going to run into four figures. Really does take you to go to a specialist these days.

Great news! My advice is to find another vet! You need one you can trust and rely on. When it comes to our babies, only the best will do!

Glad she is going to be ok though - once she gets the right course of treatment she will be well sorted!!
