Chester was born 1st August this year, pure white with a little black nose. Bottom side of one eye is white/very light blue. We got him at 6 weeks as mum was ignoring him and he was feeding fine, at 8 weeks we realised he was either very ignorant or very deaf!! Took him to Derby to have BAER test and our suspicion was confirmed...as deaf as a post!!!
He's my third boxer (2nd white one) so i knew its going to be hard work but worth it and funnily enough felt happy we'd chosen him as atleast now we know he will be loved and treated as he should. (A few days prior to us going to Derby the vet there told us of 12 dalmation pups she'd tested...all 12 were deaf and they were all put to sleep!!) So we now feel lucky to have him as he's a real character (arent they all??) He's now the best buddy of our 2yr old liver spotted dalmation and neither us or the dog have been this happy for a long while. For those concerned that their dog may be deaf please rise to the challenge as its very rewarding. |

 and  to The White Stuff One of my dogs Kirei has one blue eye and one brown eye - makes her even more special in my eyes. Sounds as though Chester has found the perfect home with you and glad he has settled in well with you and your family including your dalmation. There are other owners of deaf boxers on here and although there can be more work involved i am sure they will all tell you just how rewarding it will be. Hope to hear more from you regarding his progress and antics as he grows - some pictures would be great

 Hope you enjoy it on here! My outlaws lived in Doncaster area - New Edlington and my ex sister-in-law lives nearby. Been to Doncaster a few times to go to the pictures and the shopping centre as my Mum lives in Gainsborough. Looking forward to hearing about Chester!! Well done on taking on and keeping up with a deaf boxer!

Well, here we are.....one year on. I can quite honestly say given the choice of a hearing dog or my deaf nutter i'd choose him every time. I accept that without Sasha our dalmation (whose ears work) has made life a little easier to train him as he follows her everywhere (usually biting her ears!!)
The enjoyment gained from being able to return home and find him upside down sprawled out on the sofa (where he knows is where he shouldn't be) and just crouch down at his side untill his little nose twitches and his red bleary eyes open...you can actually hear his brain starting!! I'd not experience any of this with a hearing dog. When he's being naughty, either head stuck in the bin or chewing something he shouldn't it's possible to just walk up behind him and tap his back end and wag your finger to tell him NO!! The look of surprise is priceless. Another plus is he doesn't join in with the local hounds when they all start barking. He's won the hearts of everyone on our street. He knows when we're due home, and the sight of him looking out of the window on the stairs has me laughing every time, i'm sure the neighbours think i'm simple!! I'm going to post a few pics including a great pic i took of him on lookout. Only a couple of really naughty moments, he went through a stage of wrecking the kitchen every time we went out, the picture was taken the moment my girlfriend entered the kitchen....but how can you tell him off with that look on his face? He also ate my mobile phone, he's popped every football, basketball etc that the kids owned, walking round with a basketball in his mouth is the norm! His latest trick is sulking and refusing to play untill he's been out for his walk, i could talk about him forever (but he wouldn't allow it!) Please take a look at the pics i'm about to post....as they say a picture says a thousand words. If anyone is concerned about owing a deaf boxer, from my experience its nothing to worry about, a little thought about where to walk them (away from danger ) untill he's in the habit of looking back every 30 seconds or so and the pro's outweigh the cons. Anyway...gotta go and throw his piggin ball as he keeps plopping it on my keyboard!!
