I haven't tried it yet - am a bit of a coward and am convinced that everything sold on Ebay fell of the back of a lorry!!
I know it's not true, but one day I will have a go ....... then god help my purse strings! |

I've bought a few things on e-bay. I quite often look there first even for new things, my eldest daughter wanted a bigger memory card for her phone as it has a really good camera on it and rather than take a seperate camera with her when she goes to NY in March, we got the new card much cheaper on e-bay than in the shops. A lot of traders have 'shops' on e-bay and can be cheaper as they don't have the same overheads.
 - try searching for 'white boxer' on e-bay and you get a lot of pictures of scantilly clad men  ![]()

Karen you really should have a male to protect you at all times heehee, a white boxer should do the trick,,, then your hubby will not have to worry about who is protecting you & Sasha when he is away.. Yvonne

He he - I typed in "Boxers" last night and guess what I got - definitely not the canine variety, you live and learn!! Have been bidding again. The very expensive Boxer calenders that Petsathome have and sell at £9.99, I have put a bid in for one of them.
Thanks for the link Paul, will use that. Karen - I fought against it too, but then seeing all the Boxer items [canine] got the better of me. Helen |

If you type WHITE BOXERS then search, then look to the side and you can pick the option for 'animals' then "dogs" or something like that.
I have bought a really nice white boxer ornament, a white boxer mouse pad and a little tote bag with a white boxer on it. I also now own about 5 Nike t-shirts and 3 Nike sweatshirts and a couple Nike jackets from e-bay and I only paid $5.00 or less for every one of them!!!!! I bid $5.00 on a whole bunch and usually win just one at a time, but this way I only spend $5.00. I got a couple games for my daughters Gamecube for a penny!!!! I got a ring for $2.00!! I also got an old postcard from 1929 of an old Stagecoach Inn from my town that I live in. I LOVE EBAY!!

I bought a boxer ornament from ebay, not the best quality but lovely anyway it only cost me a fiver, Ive been looking at designer bags on Ebay as a present for my daughters 21st borthday, the one she likes retails at over 700 quid (no chance of getting that) but there are other sellers selling the same bag for less than half that price which I could stretch to but I am real worried I would be buying copy, am I being naive????? what do you think? yvonne

Ok big cynic here!!
I watched a programme where they ordered loads of "designer" stuff, eg bags, leather jackets and a pair of shoes off Ebay at really cheap prices and guess what ........................... they were all fake and some of them not even good ones!! Personally I am a great believer in paying for what you get - if you get a "designer" handbag for £5 and you know no better then you haven't lost anything. If, however, you are expecting a proper designer handbag worth £700 then you will be disappointed. It's that old addage, you get what you pay for! |

There are "real" great quality clothes on e-bay. I don't know about "designer" stuff. The Nike clothes that I get are real, some of them are used but that makes the sweatshirts the best because they are worn and comfy!!! I have got quite a few Nike clothes that are new as well. And they are real and they are new and they were cheap.
Its good to go with a seller that you have bought from before too. If you get good service and good quality goods from a seller than keep that seller as a 'favorite' and buy from them again whenever possible. Read the sellers comments also from their past buyers and see if they have good ratings for their products. Alot of the stuff at ebay is exactly what they say it is, it is just used and the people are selling it, thats all. AND read your descriptions VERY carefully for what you are buying.

Normally I am not this indecisive but.....The seller has 100% feedback, I emailed him & asked him what he meant by " authentic" & I also asked him to confirm it was not a copy which he did , told me he bought the bags straight from the makers but I am still wavering, the 100% feedback & excellent comments about the products... keep me wondering.. is it a bargain or am I a fool ,

Unfortunetly the only way that you are going to know for sure is take the chance. You did the right thing checking it out. Remember, the quicker you pay, the quicker they will send it and most offer refunds if you aren't happy so if you go for it, then if by any chance you are not satisfied then return it right away!!
Do what you are comfortable with. How much money are you taking a chance with?? I usually buy clothes and stuff and don't spend much more than $5.00-$20.00. So if I do get a bad seller than I am not out to much. I have had very good luck so far. |

Oh!! Watch your exchange too!!! Sometimes by the time you pay the exchange and the shipping you pay almost double!!!
Well that happens here because of our money. I always have to pay more because of the exchange. I do not buy from the United Kingdom!!!!

Im very very sad. I have bought loads of things now and paid for it all and everyone has written an email to thank me for the quick payment and "shipped" the goodies BUT we have a postal strike on here and nothing is coming through...........!
Was in Petsathome at the weekend and they had their calendars half price including "Boxer puppies" ad guess what colour of puppy was on the front cover of the Boxer puppies and for March??? Yes, a super duper white Boxer baby! Recognition at last for our white babies! Helen |

I received a bill through e-mail a couple of weeks ago, it was for e-bay charges and looked totally like e-bay stationery. Knowing that I had no outstanding monies due to e-bay or any seller, I forwarded it to e-bay enquiries and asked for an explanation. Sure enough, it was a scam, it was not for much, only £4.25, but I wonder how many times this bill has been received and paid by e-bayers. All e-bay user have their e-mail address open to abuse.

I received an email from Pay-Pal telling me my Ebay account was being frozen until I paid the outstanding amount on it, which was about $1,500!! Of course the $ was a give away as a) I never order from Ebay and b) I never order in $ When I looked into it, it appeared I had bought two, rather large, battery containing items that can be used for either back massage or ........................!!
Well I was shocked I can tell you!! Of course it was a huge scam and hadn't even come from Pay-Pal!! Have had a couple more like it since but it is just so scarey how realistic these scams are! Like the ones from the banks saying you need to change your details etc - it scares me how many people fall for these things!! Instead of being something to revel in, I find the internet something I trust as much as a west end street trader on a Saturday afternoon in a grubby rain mac!! |

Thats one of the reasons I dont use pay-pal. Dont trust online payments. If they dont take a cheque, forget it. I dont even use online banking and its only now that the banks are forcing folk to use "pins" that I am moving into the "times" by doing it. M<uch prefered to hand over the Switch card and sign the slip. I really cannot see how much secure it is to key in a 4-digit number with a queue of folk behind you.
Changing the subject slightly I got a message on my mobile phone about two weeks ago saying that it was from "free message" service and that I had subscribed to text messages which cost 50p a message until I stopped it. Gave a 090 number for a helpline. I thought it just a hoax and the 090 number would cost a fortune if dialled. I never sign up to anything through mobile land except with my provider. They phone and pester me occasionally although I think they have realised that I am not interested in their so-called money saving scams ![]() Over the past 2-3 weeks I did notice I seemed to be using a lot of money on the phone but never thought too much of it until I left it on all last night by mistake - messages were coming through during the wee small hours! I checked my total this morning - half an hour later it had gone down by £3.50!! Alarm bells rang, checked the inbox, sure enough texts asking me to vote for some competition. Luckily I had kept the original text msg. Told them to unsubscribe me immediately and to be fair they did but what a con!! They sent me a text to confirm I was unsubscribed and charged me 50p to do so!! You just cant be up to some of these con artists at all. Helen |

I haven't had any e-mail scams yet so I guess I am lucky so far. I have gotten an e-mail from e-bay with a warning about a certain seller, they banned the seller anyway.
As for getting bills through e-mail or regular mail or even just if you pick up a package at the post office and you are asked for additional money....NEVER NEVER pay it. There are notices all over e-bay stating this. You send what you are originally told what your balance is, thats it. I personaly use PayPal, this way there is a "person" in the middle. I had a problem sending personal checks to people and then just having faith that my item would show up. If you dont't get your item, your screwed. By then it is to late and they have cashed your check. I like that PayPal is there also looking out for me. I have a record of a payment and for what the item was and to who it went. I rely alot on the feedback of satisfied buyers before I trust the seller. That eally sucks that you guys have had problems with scams. I will certainly let you all know when I get my first attempt at a scam towards me!!!!! I don't use on-line banking either. I do use telephone banking though. I pay all my bills at home over the phone, right from my desk.

I am always buying things from ebay - i have never had any problems myself - although i would be extra careful if buying something that cost a lot of money.
My latest purchase is my new car - not directly through ebay but i saw it advertised and went to see it after the auction had ended (obviously it didnt sell through the auction). It is a pink escort cabriolet. I absolutely love the colour pink and could not believe it when i saw it as i was considering an escort cabriolet for the summer anyway - my last car had been giving me serious problems since christmas. We had to travel up to Derby to see it but as soon as i did i knew i had to have it. It is a very very bright pink but is pearlised paint so in different light it looks purple / silver / red and of course pink!!! I will take a photo of it to show you all - some people think i am mad but i love it!! Back to ebay - i have bought a huge range of things over the past couple of years - obviously lots of boxer things but we also got a new wheelchair for my mum at less than half the price of those in the shops, I got all the accesories for my sister in laws hen night from ebay, I have bought Brendan signed football photographs. We got a 15ft swimming pool and a 14ft trampoline for the garden, but since we have moved they are too big for our garden so i am going to resell them on ebay (when i get round to sorting out the shed)! Ebay is usually the first place i look if i need something - however there have been a couple of times when i have bought something and then seen it cheaper in the shops. All i would say is check the sellers feedback - if they have a good record then you shouldn't have any problems, also if you are spending a lot of money check their refund policy before you buy. Normally if they are genuine they will refund if you are not happy.

Thanks Caoline for the feedback. Wow, I am looking forward to seeing pictures of the car. I drive 10 year old Micra and admit will continue to do so until it drives no more. I got it as a 3-year-old and its did me well. Will get a bigger car perhaps next time with the dogs in mind.

I had a vauxhall corsa for the past couple of years and it was so reliable but over Christmas it started having problems. Every night the battery was going flat. I bought a new battery and it still happened. Eventually i called the AA and he tested everything and told me that there was something draining the battery when the engine was switched off. I spoke to a few people and they told me it could be very expensive to get fixed as it can take a long time to find out what the actual problem is.
So since Christmas i had been disconnecting my battery every night and also when i got to work in the morning. (It was okay if just left for a few hours but anything over 6 hours and it would be flat). I became an expert with a 10mm spanner in that time! I decided then that i wanted a convertible for the summer as i had never had one and i had planned on waiting a couple more months but as soon as i saw this one i just had to have it because it was pink. Not a pale pink either but a very bright pink. I will try to get a photograph at the weekend - we live opposite a big plumbing shop and i know i will get some strange looks if i go out and start taking photos of my car!!!! I will wait until there is no-one about! My corsa was plenty big enough for the dogs but i couldn't have any passengers in the back (what a shame)!! I don't think i will be taking the dogs in the convertible with the roof down - I can just imagine Tia seeing a cat and trying to jump out!!
