Re: Flippin Heck

They are all clearing out last year's dogs so they can get this year's model as a Christmas present for their 3 year olds to look after!

I would have to look at it that they are being responsible enough to understand that they are not the best people to look after these dogs, otherwise I think I would have lost the will to live a long time ago Jacquie. It's just so frustrating to see it happen.

My ex sister-in-law had four dogs over the years. She would have the dog for a year or so and then decide she couldnt cope and her mother (ex mother-in-law) would take it in. During the preceeding years that dog would die and my she would get another dog, again the same thing would happen.

Why oh why when the first and second dog were too much for her, did she go on to get dog three and dog four - and you can guess where they ended up too!!

Drove me nuts!!!!!!!!

I think there is an element of fact in what Karen says - clear out the old dog to get a new model in. I cannot understand an older settled dog. I think that amounts to cruelty. No committment, loyalty and definitely no conscience!

Re: Flippin Heck

It makes me so sad to hear of people doing that - my brother used to have a staffie and they didn't really have the time for her - she was never properly house trained and they gave her to a friend after about nine months.

When we had our last litter of puppies he asked if he could have one and i immediately said NO. It caused a few arguments and we didn't talk for a couple of weeks but now he sees my point and agrees that it would have been the wrong thing to do. He just wanted one because they are so cute when they are so small (he actually wanted Henry before we decided we were keeping him).

His children also kept asking if they could have a puppy but i explained to them that it didn't work out with their last dog and that they could come and see ours whenever they wanted and they wouldn't have to remember to feed them and clean up after them and take them out for walks every day. They could just come and play with them when they wanted and they seemed to understand better than my brother to start with.

To me an animal is for life - they are part of the family and will always be with you (only our parrot may outlive us)!

I just wish everyone would see animals the same way we all do on here.

Why get rid of one animal only to replace it with another - tha animal would have come to love you as part of their own family.

I really do think that there should be some sort of licensing that goes into becoming a pet owner. They should look at have you had any animals in the past - what happened to them - were they mistreated etc. I know it will never happen though as it all comes down to money - where would the money come from to set it all up and keep it running?

I hope you are able to find homes for all of these poor babies soon Jacquie.

i really cannot understand why anyone who has a boxer( or any other dog) can look at thier sweet little faces, take all the love & attention they give unconditionally then get rid of them, shame on them, good luck finding new homes BWS,

Re: Flippin Heck

We got 2 today and getting 2 tomorrow the other 2 will be next week.
You hit the nail on the head Karen, clear out before Christmas. It was the same last year!!

Two of the dogs are under a year. a wee red/white girl
and a wee white girl, she's had 4 homes in 4 days! passed form friend to friend!!!

Sometimes I get angry but at least these people contact us and not put a rock round the dogs neck and throw it in a river!

Oh Jacquie I feel so bloody useless sat up here not able to even do short term fostering just now! If I was closer I would be looking after them all for you!

Rob refuses to even consider them at all - it's just not fair. I know I can't take any in before Christmas though as I am heading south over Christmas and it just wouldnt be fair on the wee thing - nor would there be room for it at my Mum's (Sasha is on a short rein as it is!!)

I feel so sorry for the wee girl who has been passed from pillar to post - I just hope she finds a forever home, she certainly deserves it.

You have no idea how much I wish we had a bigger house and garden to help you out!!

Oh Jacqui
I feel so much for the puppy passed between four homes. Reminds me of one of the OES my sister took in and how many homes she had had. So unfair. I do hope you get homes for them soon. Puppies shouldnt be so hard to place?

Re: Flippin Heck

The younger the dog the easier it is to place. The thing that gets me is people who say they want a Welfare dog rather than line a breeders pocket. Then it turns out they have a shopping list, it must be a certain age, colour, sex, housetrained ect. These are the people who are really just looking for a cheep dog.
Fortunatly, we do have alot of really nice people who wouldnt care if a dog came with three legs and two heads, they are the one's that really want to make a diffrence.

I'm glad to say we have found homes for all but 1 dog. Now all we need is more responce forms coming in.
Things will get more difficult with the run up to Christmas. People wanting to give up dogs, and less people ready to give homes as its the holidays. Oh well keep your fingers crossed for us.

Re: Flippin Heck

Jacquie, did you get my phone message. I met a couple in a cafe yesterday who were looking at a boxer book. We got talking and they were telling me that their boxer had died a couple of weeks ago from a brain haemorragh (oh i cant spell that). He was only two and they were devestated. I gave them your mobile number as they dont have a computer. Fingers crossed they get in touch with you.

We homed the last one, but got another 2! It just goes on and on.
We dont like to advertise every dog we get in on the site as it looks too much like "going shopping".
