Regarding feeding - take a normal cars fuel consuption haf it under normal conditions and if you have lead boots half it again. I was thinking of putting a sticker on the back saying sponsoring BP, ESSO, SHELL" etc etc.

Hey but the acceleration makes me laugh like a toddler!!!

Oh just a mere 330bhp and 0-60 in just over 4 seconds Jill, woohaa cowboy!!

The worst bit is I only get to drive it at weekends, Lynne uses it back and forth for work. Mind you I think I would need a second job to pay for the fuel if I used it through the week (5000 business miles in 6 weeks) imagine the fuel bill, very scary.

Trims Helen - how dare you:roundnround:!! I'll have you know they are lightweight magnesium alloy wheels!!

You see such wonders of automotive engineering are wasted on the female of the species :jump:xcept a few I suppose like lynne who is a girl racer.

Sit back and wait for the wrath of the female white boxer community - that'll be all of you except me then, the joys of being the only regular male poster:tongue:

Bring it on ladies.

Oh where oh where should I start???!!!!

Personally I reckon that once a man can understand the intricate workings of the female mind, then I will bother myself to understand the "wonders of automotive engineering"!!

At least I dont need to understand a car to get what I want out of it!!

Isnt magnesium something you take for indigestion - didnt realise they could use it on cars now, clever!

He he he he :rotflmao:

The chances of men ever understanding a womans mind are very slim after all Mr Spock summed it up perfectly "surely this is not logical behaviour Jim?" quite right too Mr Spock women are not logical!!!! Ha ha ha

Why does the Impreza sound so much like a VW Beetle.

Re: New baby in the family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excuse me WRX, I'll have you know it's the WRX STI with pro drive performance pack and TSL 333 performance upgrade hence the 330bhp.

The Impreza does sound a little like an old type beetle because they both have a flat4 engine, porsche use a flat 6 in most of the smaller models ie. not the lardy 4*4 thingy thats butt ugly which uses a V8. Most cars have an in-line 4 cylinder engine which is quiter but rvs less freely as the pistons go up and down as opposed to side to side in a flat 4 formation!!

Confused? To much Jargon? Sorry ladies - ex mechanical technician, post you car problems this way, you never know I may be able to help.

Re: New baby in the family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aye, what do you mean "sounds a little like a beetle". Perhaps the end can, sized like a torpedo tube, changes the tone, but not the rhythm.
Some have a extra twist, a "whistle sound" at gear change. I guess these are super charged.
They call vertically opposed engines, the boxer formation up here. I too have spent time in the motor trade, admin/sales/marketing.

Re: New baby in the family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have an Astra, 1.4 GLS 5dr, it is super, but, taking his car is like a trip to Disney land, especially when he got this VW, the last one was a Vectra SRI 140, losing the traction control proved "exciting" to say the least. The Passat 1.8T SE is more powerful but is less able to go round corners as quick. The dash is so much pritier though.

Re: New baby in the family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi jill

The ppssssstttttt noise when changing gear is a dump valve that prevents turbo lag to some extent allowing the engine to gain full boost more smoothly and in a shorter time in the next gear!! It basically vents any gases in the system out into the atmosphere.

By the way it's Lynne that drives the blue beast through the week - I only get to play at weekends, my works bus is a Ford Focus C-max people carrier thingy which is awfull. I have a new shape 2.0 tdi passat estate on order due early december, I can't wait the focus is so uncomfortable it's beyond belief.

The poxy 1.6 TDCI engine does not help either!! You have to book an appointment in advonce for it to even think about doinganything quickly!!

Yes I am car mad but so is Lynne so I get away with it.

Paul
