We have had an infestation of mice lately - the tower block at the end of our road is being demolished and there is a big problem inthe whole area.
![]() All week Brendan has been blocking holes where they can get in etc. ![]() The dogs go on a mouse hunt for me every morning when i switch on the lights and we normally see one or two run away. I hate mice and i think the dogs have sensed that - they ignore them if Brendan is the first one downstairs. Over the last week my two house plants have been dug out every morning. Dirt all over the floor and on the side. When we took Busta to the vets yesterday the one on the side had been dug out again. I didn't clear it up straight away as there wasn't much dirt but later on when i did i decided to have a closer look to see how far down they had dug - I saw this little shiny eye looking back at me. I was holding the plant pot at the time - the plant is about a foot and a half tall and i was standing there screaming 'theres a mouse' - i didn't know what to do with the pot i didn't want to drop it as i really like that plant and i knew if i dropped it the mouse would run. The dogs started going mad and Brendan was saying to me 'well put it down then' ![]() Looking back on it now it was really funny - but at the time i was just so shocked - the pot is not very big and i really didn't expect this mouse to be sleeping in there. ![]() I put the pot down on the table and Brendan took it outside and tipped it out and the mouse run behind our shed. We repotted the plant with fresh soil and i have moved the plant now so that the mice can't get to it (on the dining table). I still cannot believe that a mouse was living in my plant and we have renamed our house plants - mouse plants now!!!!! ![]()

Eeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
![]() When I was a little girl (oh way back when!!) I used to live in Iran. We used to get loads of things sharing our house, from snakes to coakroaches - mice to lizards. Anyway, one day I was doing the washing up and we didn't have a "fitted" kitchen as such and the sink stood away from the wall. I am stood there and a mouse comes up the back of the sink, on to the draining board, knicked a cake wrapper and then disappeared again!!!! ![]() I don't like mice either!!

I back onto open countryside and have the sea over the road so you do get little furry visitors from time to time. They are such dirty little beasties - definitely not house trainable!! I help out with a cat group that neuter stray/feral cats. When they come to feed they also have a sense of belonging to whoever feeds them. Something is working so my suggestion is to get or borrow a cat for a few weeks.
