What do you do for a living???????????

What does everyone do for a living?

I work for a food company as a Quality Assurance Technologist - sounds clever but its not - just a flashy title, but it pays ok so i am happy. I have worked there for 9 and a half years. They produce cooked sausages and meatballs etc - so the dogs are always happy!!!
Quite often i will bring a bag home for them.

Problem is they can smell them on me when i get home so i have to have a shower immediately or i don't get left alone!!! - not that i mind, boxer kisses and cuddles are always good at the end of the day.

Hubby works as a train driver for London underground.
Every time he gets a pay rise i threaten to retire ( I am only thirty!!) I have not quite managed it yet but hopefully soon...........

So come on everyone - what do you or your partners do for a living?

Caroline

Hi
I used to work in the bank, I was in a bad road accident 4 years ago which has left me dissabled (no, not just my brain LOL)
I miss working but with the boxer welfare there is never a dull moment.
My hubby is a suport worker for adults with challanging behaviour.
I cant spell to save my life, but I'm happy I'll be 44 this year and intend to grow old disgracefully!!!!!

Like Pat I am an unpaid slave, but wouldnt change it for the world!! I have three children and Sasha to keep me busy!!

As I have ME I have had to find something to do from home that I can forget at a moments notice, so I run my own business from home. I sell wrapping paper, greeting cards, invitations, postcards etc as an Agent for a company called Phoenix Trading. I love it, I get to meet lots of people, the cards are gorgeous and its always handy to have 300 cards to choose from at home when the kids have birthday parties to go to!!

Hubby is in the airforce and works on a tornado Squadron (no he doesnt fly). He spends a lot of time out of the country including two months of the year in the Gulf - he was out there during the conflict two years ago and will have to keep going back til the Government make up their minds! He has just come back from Belguim though, so there is an upside - chocolate!!!!

I work part-time in ASDA, on the checkout. Had to give up full time after a health problem. Before that I was in Customer Services/Marketing with the motor industry.
My partner works for an oil company, he worked away from home most of the time till recently.
Being alone, a lot, prompted me to take on a dog. Enter DAZ to my life. He came and has taken over. Seems like the world revolves round him, can't imagine life without him now.

I work part-time as a Teaching Assistant in a local primary school, though the two girls I work with both leave this time so I'll be out of a job come the summer hols, will have to see what comes up - I could always be a kept woman :roundnround:
Hubby is an engineer working in the compressed air industry, or something like that, very difficult to describe what he does, apart from spend half of his time driving across to Yorkshire & back. He too was in the army, that's where he learned his trade.

I am a house wife, but I also run a small daycare in my home. That is how I get to stay home! So I have 6 kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 mice and a hubby to care for everyday! I have been home since I had my oldest daughter Courtnie, she will be 13 in May!
Hubby and I also have our own business. VERY small, just me and him! He is a truck driver, he hauls scrap to a dump (smelly). I am the book keeper, accountant, secretary! He drove truck for his dad's company for years, then when his dad was ready to retire the truck, we bought it off of him, and took over the contracts.

Re: What do you do for a living???????????

I am a sales manager and Lynne my darling wife is a vascular technologist.

I wont bore you all with the ins and outs of my job.

Lynnes job involves using ultrasound to locate / diagnose blood clots, DVT's and anything else to do with disease of the blood circulation system caused by diabetes, smoking, drinking, eating the wrong foods, old age, rare conditions......................

Now I have thoroughly depressed you all with what we all do wrong and the fact that my wife is one of only a 100 or so in the country - the upside is she does not preach about you must not do this or eat that - if she did I think "pot, kettle and black" would be somewhere in the reply to her.

The upside is the procedure is non evassive unlike ultrasound so she helps reduce the amount of people that have to stay in hospital overnight.

The real benefit when she is pregenant is that she can bring scans and videos of the baby home anytime she wants and the machine she uses is the same one they advertise on telly that produces the 3D images.

5 weeks to go and our second child will be filling the air with unpleasent smells and the sound of infant song - somebody help we must be mad two kids, two boxers and Mair will only be 2 1/2 nearly when No2 arrives.

Re: What do you do for a living???????????

Wow sounds like Lynne has a really interesting job. I hadn't heard of anyone until recently when I heard of a local phlebotomist - is that the same thing?

Thought the new arrival was soon - let us know when the happy event occurs!!

As for two children and two dogs - cant help you there sorry! I do have three children, one canary and one boxer though!! At one point 7 years or so ago I had two children, one boxer, one tortoise, two fish and about 12 hamsters so I see where you are coming from!!

Eventually they all passed away or went to zoos and I vowed never to have that many legs in the house again!!!!

Re: What do you do for a living???????????

Three children sounds like hard work or is it like they say once you have more than one it gets easier? I'm trying to stay positive when really I know it's sleepless nights on the menu for the next 4 months or so until we can get the little terror into some sort of routine.

Don't know if Lynnes job is similair to a phlebotomist or not I'm afraid, I will ask when she gets home. I do know she really really enjoys it though - which has to be a real plus if you can honestly say you love your job, she is so passionate about it it is unbelievable.

I know where you are coming from with the zoo thing when I grew up my Mum and brother were animal mad - we had are you ready for this: 2 tropical fish tanks, 2 marine fish tanks, 1 cold water fish tank, 12 tortoises, 4 box turtles, 3 rabbits, 7 guinea pigs and hercules the hamster and that was all at the same time! I thought they were bonkers and looking back I was probably right:roundnround:.

Mum still has 2 of the tortoises but thats it the rest were rehomed through the national tortoise club whatever it's called as for the rabbits and guinea pigs well time played its usual pat and they were not replaced as my Mum had enough once my brother went to uni.

The fish gradually depleted in No's - Marine aquariums can be hard work as you have to ensure the right PH is maintained within the tank and unfortunately we ended up with a prey mantis which must have been in some coral we bought, they are not the frendliest of creatures and gradually it picked off all the shrimps and over time the fish as well.

I will post some pic's of the new arrival as and when, hopefully i will be able to get a pic with Mair, Molly, Tash and the new arrival so you can see what a motley crew they are together.

Re: What do you do for a living???????????

Really interested in that Paul. I had a tortoise until a couple of years ago! I love them! We have 2 tropical marine tanks in the house, My 14 year old son has one in his bedroom and I have the other in the livingroom.
Dont worry about the new arrival, everything will be fine and you will agree the sleepless nights are worth it! We have six kids between us! our youngest is nearly 4 and the next one up is 14. It was like starting over but well worth it!
best wishes for your new arrival. Looking forward to your anouncement:biggrin:
