Ok, now I have two my wheelie bin is stinking! I use nappy sacks but, because my bin is collected fortnightly, it is filling up rather quickly!!

So ................ dog poo bins :dunno:

Yes, no, for, against, pros and cons!! And can it handle the output of two boxers!!

Re: Dog Poo Bins

The poos we clean up in the garden are always flushed down the toilet, ones while out on walks are put in one of the dog poo bins we have placed around in strategic places. If Polo does one on the way home after we've passed all the bins I empty the poo into the toilet to be flushed away then throw the bag in the bin - I couldn't stand poo in the wheelie bin, especially come the warmer months :thud:

Don't know much about the ones you bury in the garden though, sorry.

Re: Dog Poo Bins

Hi Karen

We have one in the garden buried. I have to say whilst in theory it sounds like a good idea, in practice it cannot cope with the output of our two.

We just pick up using a plastic shovel and put straight down the toilet! Works a treat and won't stink your bin out.

I think if you did go down the dog poo bin path you would need to apply the following formula.

1 * Boxer = twice as much poo as a normal dog = 4 bins to cope with the output

Regards

Paul

Re: Dog Poo Bins

We are certainly looking at the short term picture here.
What we need is bio-degradable nappy sacks and a central collection point.
Recycling is the way forward for us and more importantly our offspring.
Central collection keeps it off your back yard and allocates it to a better use.
Bio-degradable nappy sacks, perhaps driven by the conciencious baby ware industry(Hope they are listening) will help here too.
We known how to dispose of Glass, Tin cans, Aluminium cans, Paper, General, etc. This is what we need to do and petition for. For myself I have a walk route with Daz which incorporates the recycle area and some natural areas which lets us not only see the indiginious wild life, but lets us feed then too, from waste!
This is a definate issue with probably us all right now, with not much results on the horizon, but everything helps. I.E. The energy saved by the earth, recycling 1 aluminiun can run a TV for 300 hours

Re: Dog Poo Bins

I got one of the dog poo bines you bury years ago. They dont telll you that it also depends on your soil and if it has good drainage. At the time I was living at mums and her soil is heavy with clay through it. Definitely not good - wasteage did not disolve and drain away as it should.

Probs with putting it down loo is that if you lift grass with it, it floats in the water and just wont flush away.

I never liked using nappy bags - so small. I buy pedal bin liners and use them. Or, I should supermarket plastic bags. Well, they do tell you to recycle!! I find it you lift the poo in the bag and tie it well and then put it into another bag and tie it as securely then the smell is not too bad. Its best I find when you open the bin to breath through your mouth in warmer weather :cheerleader:

I have one of the bins you put in the garden. I def agree with Paul - they are not designed for the output pf a Boxer. Mine never seems to be clear even though we have quite chalky/sandy soil. Haven't got the recyling bins yet but they are coming soon so I might have to go with the flush it down the loo lot.
