Trying to get back to normality

Hi all. I am back home now. As some of you know dad was admitted to the Hospice and I had to go to mum and dad's house. Sadly on 15th September dad passed away peacefully  I stayed with mum until after the funeral whaich was Thursday 27th which went really well. THere were loads of people and we had received loads of cards; dad had spent 40 years doing voluntary work for Royal Mencap and mum and I never really knew what he had done but the anount of letters and stories we had about his work was amazing and just a shame we only found out after - never mind I know he knows we are proud of him. Onw of the hospicew nurses told me he was really proud of me and had spent an afternoon telling her all about me when she had sat with him when mum went out. THe last 3 weeks have been the longest ever and now it is back to "normality" and back to work tomorrow. Mum is still in Eastbourne and on her own now, I know she will be alright in time but she has a lot of things to get used to now as they were married for 42 years. I am keeping a check on her and will go there soon but I have had my orders to get back in a routine at home asnd I daren't disobey her!! Glad to be back here and will hopefully be a bit more active on here now. By the way Gixer ahs been great - a really mature, grown up boy and lovely to have around; he is starting agility classes on October the 10th I'll let you know how it goes.

Re: Trying to get back to normality

Was sorry to hear your dad has lost his battle - he sounds to have had a loving caring family and very happy life. You have your memories now of that lovely warm feeling. It will take a while and your mum will find the loss so hard but hopefully her memories will sustain her. Do you live far from her?

Good luck with the agility.

Helen

Sorry to hear your Dad finally lost his battle, but glad to hear it was peaceful for him. :bighug: How wonderful for him that he was surrounded by those he loved and who loved him when his time came.

:bighug: No wonder he is proud of you :bighug:

Well don Gixer and good luck with the agility classes

I'm so sorry to hear you're Dad has passed away. It sounds as though he was an amazing man. It will take time for your mum but I'm sure having you for support will help.

Well done Gixer for being so good.

Re: Trying to get back to normality

So Sorry to hear your sad news.:
My Mum found herself alone after 49yrs.I see her weekdays but only for an hr here or 30 mins there.
If your Mum is like mine she wants to get on and not be mollycoddled. Remember Mums are always right. She wants you to get back on track so she can try herself.
She knows where you are if and when she needs you.

Sending Lots of Love To You All:bighug:

So sorry to hear your news.:bighug:

Your dad knew you were all there for him and sounds as if he was very proud of you. Sounds like you have a very close family.

Must be difficult for your mum on her own now but i am sure she knows you are there if she needs you.:bighug:
