wedding dress shopping

Went wedding dress shopping with Izzy today for the first time, we've another appointment tomorrow night at our local shop.

The dresses she tried on were all lovely, don't know how we'll ever decide  hopefully THE ONE will just jump out at us :luck: She looks great in them all as she has a lovely figure, really jealous, even when I was younger & slimmer I never had a figure like that :dunno:

I really liked one of the dresses in the window, very plain but with lovely detail (feel the word lovely is being overused & I may have to look in the thesaurus :smash6:smile: she looked wonderful in it too, then the assistant told is was one of their most expensive dresses at 2695  :worried:  maybe goes to show what good taste I have :veryexcited:

As the future Mrs ELIZABETH TAYLOR think she'll need a real glam dress

How much :thud::thud:

I can't imagine me going shopping with Charlotte for wedding dresses, I think we would just argue and she would be saying she looked fat in them all!

Good luck and I hope you have fun, what a magical time for you both

Best wishes to the future Mrs Elizabeth Taylor

mmm, not sure whether she'll allow that before the day, definitely afterwards though :cheering:

think she's decided, went to try on some 'big' dresses on Friday which she loved, it's more than we were hoping to spend but I'd rather she had a dress she loves than always wishing, if you know what I mean  She looks gorgeous in it :flowerkiss:

Re: wedding dress shopping

Well she decided on THE dress (the shop she tried it on at was about an hour away, with an 'interesting' drive along a rather windy, pot-holed road across the moors :eek:smile:

We had an appointment at our local wedding dress shop last Saturday to view next season's dresses, but Izzy was very reluctant to try on dresses apart from the one that had previously been her favourite. It was the shop owner who said to her that she could tell she had made up her mind about the dress, she hadn't until then but was now certain, she had said at the time that it was the closest she had come to tears and why wasn't I crying???

We asked the woman in our local shop if it was possible for her to get the dress rather than us having to order from so far away, not very convenient for fittings etc :mischief:, she said she would try :luck:

Izzy got a phone call from her on Thursday to say the dress could be ordered, the best thing was that any dress ordered in the shop's 'designer week' qualified for a 10% discount, which as the dress was just under 2000 (more than we had hoped but worth the extra to save 'if onlys' :smash6:smile: meant 200 off, and a lot less hassle - plus this woman does a service where she comes on the day of the wedding to get the dress on, which with a lot of ribbons to lace her in will be an absolute godsend :cheering:

At least once we go tomorrow to get measured and ordered that will be something more off the 'to do' list

While we were there last week Izzy got Mad (our nearly 18 year old tomboy who hasn't worn a skirt since leaving primary school!) to try on a bridesmaid dress. Needless to say she looked gorgeous in it to which Izzy said "I don't know about Dad having tears in his eyes when he sees me, he definitely will when he sees you! OMG you've got a waist and collar bones and everything!"

Think I'll need a whole box of tissues on the day :thud:

Re: wedding dress shopping

Definitely Karen, it's especially so at the moment as one of our teachers at school has just lost her daughter, aged 23, to cystic fibrosis. Apart from it being a generally upsetting time for everyone at school I really feel for her as she's not going to get to do any of these things with her daugher :crying: She does have another daughter, who was at school with Mad, so is nearly 18, but it'll never be quite the same.

Re: wedding dress shopping

How sad. Like you say, makes your time feel a lot more special when you can appreciate what it might be like not to have it.

An old friend of mine lost her son in a horrible accident, he was a year older than my daughter. Makes them all that more precious.

Am lookign forward to seeing photos of THE dress
