Hello??!!

Blimey I went away for a long weekend and expected to spend at least 15 mins catching up on all the posts I missed - but there was only one!!

I guess you are all too busy out enjoying this heat, or perhaps all your modems have melted!

Sasha had her first sleepover away from home while we were gone. I was quite worried that I would get a stressed out dog back, but to be quite honest she has jus slept most of the day!! Apparently she had great fun and even got to sleep on someone's bed and the sofa!

She is probably miffed at having to rough it on the floor again!!!!

Re: Hello??!!

Good stuff Karen - the old saying "wherever I rest my head thats my home" is so true of boxers. Give em a sofa / bed and you'll never get them out of the house.

Take care

Paul

Re: Hello??!!

Sasha has been at home with family - kids, Rob etc but unfortunately that was around the time she started this seperation anxiety.

This was her first sleep-over and seems ok so far.

My best bit of advice would be to keep it calm. Sneak the cases out the back door and dont make a fuss when you leave. The more you make a fuss, the more they will wonder what is going on and fret when the dont understand.

But you probably knew that already!!

Re: Hello??!!

Thanks Karen for the advice, I worry that they will think we have gone away & left them for good..... we have now cut it to a week instead of two so I am hoping they will be okay, they will be at home with people they know so hopefully they won't stress out........ they probally don't need our company as much as I think they do..more like we need thier company more

Re: Hello??!!

One piece of advice I was given and a good thing to remember Yvonne is that dogs have no sense of passing time. You could leave them for half a day or two weeks and it wouldn't make much difference to them.

Apparently they have time clocks for meals etc, but other than that they don't really notice what day of the week it is!! They will miss you the same way they do when you have gone to the shops, but wont notice that it is any longer if you are away for a week.

I am sure they will get totally spoilt in your absence and be so happy to see you when you get back. Where are you going - anywhere nice?

Re: Hello??!!

It's beautiful around there. Glencoe is stunning on a clear day although a little daunting when the clouds roll in!

My grandmother hails from Ballachulish and I am charged with the responsibility of scattering her ashes off the bridge when her time comes!

Enjoy it! Hope the weather is good for you, but you do know that Fort Wiliam is one of the wettest place in the country - but the countryside around certainly makes up for that! You are only a day trip from Mull there!

Re: Hello??!!

Joe is dead set against camping now & thinks we should leave going up north till next year....... I am in two minds although ideally I want to go camping my health is'nt at its best just now so I am in a quandry..the choices are either go on a couple of mini cruises (Norway/Iceland)?Holland leave camping till next year or go up North , stay in Hotels/B & Bs & not do the things we wanted to..what do you all think??? Re: Hello??!!

How about renting a static caravan? That would probably be cheaper than B&B, plus you have somewhere to go during the day!

You are talking to the wrong person - I would pick Scotland over any other destination anytime!

Re: Hello??!!

Oh we have just spent the weekend camping at the Sollfest, a music festival near silloth in cumbria overlooking the solway. Absolutely fab, stunning scenery but weather iffy. Force 10 gales (well a bit breezy) and the odd torrential downpour. Loved every minute but my arthritis has played up ever since!
