How much is that doggy in the long run?

Did anyone read todays Sun newspaper?

There is an article in there about how much it costs to keep different breeds of dog throughout their lifetime.

Apparently a boxer will live for an average of 12 years and cost ......wait for it........22,444 to keep for that time!!!!

That means our three will cost us about 67,000 throughout their life.

That works out at 1870.33 a year or 155.86 a month...each!!!

I don't know where they got their figures from but they must be extremely pampered pets to cost that much.

If i totalled up how much ours had cost us so far it would be a fair bit - but nowhere near that amount - even taking into consideration the destroyed sofas and holes in the walls.

We pay 50 a month for insurance for the three of them, approx 50 a month for food for the three of them and then probably another 30 on toys & treats - so we are managing to keep three of them for less than they are saying it costs to keep one!!!

The great dane was the most expensive at 32.810 and the jack russel was the cheapest at 18.052. They said that the average was 22.000.

HOWEVER WE ALL KNOW OUR BABIES ARE WELL ABOVE AVERAGE!!

Sasha costs around 60 a month all told. That's her food, biscuits and insurance ... I make that 8,640 for 12 years!! I suppose the other 13k will go on all those diamond studded collars and designer clothes I am going to buy for her!!

I havent thought about how much ours cost. Insurance for the two of them is 38 per month. Food - hard to gague as they get home cooked food for one meal, rest is tins but I suppose for the tins 16-18 per month. Toys and treats about 10 per month. However as far as the vet goes, you dont get over their door and out again for less than 60. No point claiming as you have to pay first 50 yourself first.
