Re: What's it take to install a Rotary

What is the small pump looking thing on the front of the 12a. It has two tubes that come up to the carb. Do I need to install this when I put a different intake and carb?

That small pump looking thing is your oil metering pump. Yes it does need to be hooked up when replacing the carb (unless you want to premix your gas with some oil)

I just connected the 2 tubes together and ran a single line up to the float bowl drain of my weber IDA carb, where I put a hose barb instead of a plug. That takes care of that. You could also hook the oil lines up to the vacuum ports of a carb. that is the way that most people connect the lines.

Re: What's it take to install a Rotary

I have a 1973 Super Beetle that I want to convert over to rotary. The one thing that I'm not finding good information on is the placement and venting of the radiator. I'd like to copy a sound radiator system rather than reinvent the wheel here. Does anyone have information or sell a kit to do this?

Hello again.

I still have my 1970 VW Convertible 13B power. The car has a new steel firewall that enlarges the engine bay into the package area behind the back seat. Radiator is Ford Escort with electric fan.

For a number of years I used the stock fuel injection from '87 Rx&. Now has Delorto side draft. Extra Racing Beat intake manifold for 12a motor. 4 wheel disk brakes.

I have 2 engines. One is a remanufactured Rx7 shortblock never unwrapped. Custom exhaust. New Chrome trim, Top, Headliner, etc. Also 1600 VW engine with dual carbs. Divorce forces sale. Note my new email address. chuck@pegheds.com

Sorry to those who wrote before and got no response.

Re: What's it take to install a Rotary

I see that this is an old thread but I thought someone might stumble upon it and direct me to where the info i need is located. I read on this thread that one of the steps is to wire with 2 manuals. I have a cosmo 13 rew twin turbo stuffed in my 70 bug and everything except oil cooler and fuel injection are hooked up. Oil cooler, no biggie. But FI, is a biggie. I have the wiring harness, and stock ecu. I know that I can buy a microtech and install and be done. But with soo much money already in the build i thought i'd try the stock ecu first. What do I need to hookup from the ecu and wires to just get the rotary to run? basic, basic requirements is all I want. Like do I just need this one or that one and what about the positive wire. etc. Any help would make my bug go much faster, 4 years in a build and down to bits and pieces. HELP! haha
