Mid-Engine

Hey, I've seen a bunch of rear-mounted rotary bugs, and that's fantastic. This site made me convinced on to doing a rotary conversion in my 72' SB. What I was wondering though, is how credible is it to do a mid-engine conversion? I asked my yahoo group and they were freaking out(probably don't like rotary conversion anyways) about cutting away at the car would make it drastically flimsy and trying to scare me out of it. But since this is your ballpark, I thought I'd pose the question. Would a mid-engine rotary conversion be a wise choice(better CG) or stick with rear engine?

I.ve built a mid-engine EJ20H Subaru and starting on my 2nd one.. Only way to go when it comes to handling. I used the Subaru 5 speed transmission

Re: Mid-Engine

back in the mid 70s we had 2 mid engined beetles in the area one used a 3.0 ford V6 and the other a 2 litre VW 412 motor the latter used the inner boot floor and valance off the estate as the engine cover in the rear of the beetle.
both kept the beetle suspension but had roll cages and strengthening. the 412 powered one was used for club rallying.
it is the way to go for balance

Re: Mid-Engine

Great idea! What about cooling air to the new engine compartment?
