Subaru all wheel drive

I know that this should proably be in the transmission forum, but it is strictly subaru. I was looking at some pictures of a subaru all wheel drive trans and I was wondering if anybody has ever modified it. As you install the subaru engine basically backwards, would not the output shafts for the front wheel drives line up with the axle shafts of the VW. You may have to reverse the crown gear, but it would give you a heavier high horsepower trans that is a true 5 speed that would bolt up the engine without adapters....may be just a brain fart, but just maybe?

Re: Subaru all wheel drive

Crown gear on a subaru transmission CAN NOT be flipped (reversed). Do a search here or on
http://www.shoptalkforums.com/index.php
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/index.php
http://www.vwrx.com/
it just can't be done
