New project 66Ghia
Hello all,
It's been a few years since i was around this site. My last conversion project was a 71 ghia that had a 2.0 jetta engine in it.....that was sure fast. First let me state that i am all about keeping aircooled classics in original condition. The 71 ghia i bought had already been modified and i just had to finish it up. I am going to pick up my new project tonight. I found a guy that was trying to sell a 66 ghia to pay to fix his 94 chevy caprice cop car....so i said let me take your caprice and fix it up then you just trade me for the ghia. The ghia had a subaru engine in it at some point in time. The current owner had bought it because he wanted to make an electric car out of it. That sounds cool but i'm not too much into the electric stuff. So I am taking his caprice back.....did a bunch of work to it including putting i a used transmission. Total parts I have in the caprice is $370 plus my labor....so i get a nice condition 66 ghia that is ready to have another suby engine installed. Then i picked up a used 2.2 for $140 needs head gaskets and a good cleanup. But i enjoy this stuff. I'll start posting some pics as i get working on it.
don't really like the purplish color I believe it was originally red but it is sun faded to a purple color. I might leave it that way with some white ghost flames. not sure yet.
