Speed Sensor Fixes?

Looking around at Suby swaps there seems to be always this question of how to make the speed sensor work so that the engine works properly. But I have not heard of a away to fix this problem. What kind of creative ways have you found to fix this?

Re: Speed Sensor Fixes?

Thanks for the help eureka, this should make life eaiser. And to help everyone else out here is what I have found.

VSS Solutions

http://www.smallcar.com/speeds.htm
Adapts a stock Vanagon speedometer to accept the VSS Sensor in place of the stock cruise control

http://www.customoffroad.com.au/partFull.asp?partid=99
Pugs straight into any VW speedo and Cable with a VDO Speed Sensor for the ECU signal
the VDO part number is 412.009
$150 AUD, $135 USD?
(this seems like the best solution)
Similar products available from Summit Racing in the US

Arthur Allen Hall Effect Transducer
Universal AA-1470 Euro 7/8 used in vehicles such as Mack MS250
I am told that this will work as well but haven’t seen it used

Some people talk about putting magents on the CVs and making there own system with stock suby parts. I dont trust myself enough to go that way but for someone else that might work.

There you go, Mike

Re: Speed Sensor Fixes?

I bought a 2.5 Reed Switch, and 4 magnets.
Mounted the magnets on a hose clamp on the CV joint.
Mounted the reed switch on a bracket. And it works.
It's a ghetto solution and I haven't put much miles on it yet
but so far so good.
Rob.
