3.0L SHO V-6 into a 68 bug?

Hello all,
I have a spare 3.0L SHO V-6. This engine is 220 hp and 220 ft/lbs of torque STOCK, and with a minor computer mod will spin 9,000 RPM. However, it is not necessary to put that much RPM through a bug, and I highly doubt a VW tranny will hold up to that abuse for long.
I'm looking for any information that anyone may have about anyone putting this engine into a Bug?
Lastly, is there a preferance between a swing axle or an IRS? I have an IRS autostick bug (it will be swapped to a manual for the SHO engine.)

Feel free to mail me directly at jesse.sosebee@gmail.com

Thanks
Jesse

try putting in a boat reverse rotation cam and a rhino vw 5 speed.
with the cam rotation changed and a simple adapter plate the tranny can be reversed and still move forward.. a larger cvj and irs you should have it. good luck. i am starting the same projectct..

I AM PUTTING THE SHO INTO MY 67 VW IN MARCH WITH SOME SUPPORT MODS AND WAS GOING TO DO A PORSCHE 914 TRANNY AND MID MOUNT IT BUT DECIDED TO USE THE SHO TRANNY AND PUT ON A WHALE TAIL TO HIDE THE UPPER PART OF THE MOTOR PROTRUDING INTO THE DECK LID.
